Willow paused for a second, her gaze landing mockingly on Xavier's face.
She didn't believe Xavier was genuinely admitting his mistake. He was just bitter because he hadn't secured the investment he wanted.
Her sharp gaze pierced Xavier, yet he could no longer throw a tantrum like he used to. He could only take a deep breath and speak softly, "Willow, don't look at me like that. Do you really hate me that much?"
Hearing this, Willow burst out laughing. "What else? Xavier, don't your actions warrant my hatred?"
Almost instantly, Xavier remembered everything he had done.
From forcing Willow to change her marriage arrangements to kidnapping her, his track record was atrocious.
It was only natural for Willow to hate him.
But Xavier felt their relationship didn't need to be so hostile.
His tone was feather-light. "Willow, let the past be the past. I wronged you. Can you forgive me just this once? I promise, from now on, I will treat you and Tessa exactly the same."
Hearing this, Willow simply scoffed.
Lucian's eyes were icy. "Treating your own biological sister and an adopted daughter the same is an act of blatant favoritism in itself. Xavier, Willow isn't lacking your love. There are plenty of people who love her. Despicable people like you aren't even worth mentioning."
Xavier stared blankly. The moment he saw Lucian, the wound on his shoulder throbbed with a burning pain.
