Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 20

Willow found the entire proposal utterly laughable. "Do you honestly think I care about the title of the Shaw family daughter?"

The only identity she had ever valued was being her parents' daughter, not their little sister. The reward they were offering was entirely worthless.

She had no desire to negotiate. She could retrieve her mother's belongings another day, but sacrificing her dignity to beg for them? Never!

Pushing past Leo, who was blocking her path, she marched toward the exit without a shred of hesitation.

Seeing her leave, Tessa panicked. She jumped off the couch, ran over, and grabbed Willow's wrist. "Are you really going to ruin everyone's day over this?"

Disgusted, Willow yanked her arm free. "Correction: you're the one ruining things."

A vicious glint flashed in Tessa's eyes. Leaning in, she whispered so only Willow could hear, "Willow, your mother left you ten heirlooms. This bracelet is the cheapest one. The others? Your brothers gave them all to me. Do you really think you can beat me?"

Willow's fists clenched instantly, fury blazing in her eyes.

Had Xavier and the others completely lost their minds?! Giving their own mother's heirlooms to an outsider?!

Pretending Willow had hurt her arm, Tessa whimpered, dramatically pulling the bracelet from her pocket. Her voice dripped with fake sympathy. "Willow, please don't be mad. Don't break their hearts because of me. I don't even need an apology. Here, I'll just give the bracelet to you. Okay?"

She made a show of handing it over, but when it was mere inches from Willow's grasp, her fingers deliberately slipped.

Willow's pupils contracted. Instinctively, she lunged to catch it, but it was too fast. The crystal slipped past her fingertips and slammed into the marble floor!

A sickening crack echoed through the room. The heirloom instantly shattered into three pieces!
