Lucian froze for a second, his pupils contracting slightly.

Willow kept her gaze fixed on him, refusing to miss a single shift in his expression.

Lucian opened his mouth to speak, but before a word could come out, the frantic ringing of a phone completely cut him off.

Frowning, Willow pulled her phone from her handbag. The caller ID flashed brightly across the screen: Adelina!

Shouldn't Adelina be at the lab working on the miracle drug right now? Why was she calling out of the blue?

Confused, Willow answered, "What's wrong?"

Adelina's voice was rushed and frantic. "Willow, something happened. Tessa brought Silas to the research center. They showed up with a bunch of people and blocked our entire medical shipment. We can't proceed with the clinical trials without those supplies. Silas is demanding to see you, saying he won't let the meds through until you show up."

Hearing that, a deep crease formed on Willow's forehead.

Silas and Asher were twins, but their personalities couldn't have been more polar opposite.

Asher was relatively mild-mannered, whereas Silas was insanely volatile. Growing up, he had always been a total hothead—ready to blow up at the slightest provocation.

Pausing for just a second, Willow told Adelina, "I'm heading over right now."

Adelina took a sharp breath. "Bring some backup. Knowing Silas, he's going to try and walk all over you."

All because Tessa had thrown a fake tantrum, demanding Willow drain her savings to buy her jewelry.
