Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 217

Silas's immediate reaction was that she was completely out of her mind.

Though Tessa had already filled him in on Willow's recent stunts, he hadn't taken it seriously. He knew better than anyone just how desperate and starved for affection his sister really was.

A girl who would sacrifice everything just to hear a single word of praise would never actually sever ties with her family.

Convinced this was just an elaborate cry for attention, he frowned in pure annoyance. "So what if we neglected you a little recently? There's no need to throw this kind of tantrum. Do you have any idea what severing ties and dragging us to court will do to The Shaw Group? My new show is about to air. It's the first project since my rebrand, Willow. I am not letting you ruin this with your drama."

When it came down to it, he was just terrified.

Terrified that Willow was no longer willing to play their loyal punching bag. Terrified that their darkest secrets would be exposed, and his pristine reputation would burn to the ground.

That was all it was.

Willow let out a soft laugh. Glancing at Adelina who had just rushed out, she gave her a subtle look, signaling her to go back inside.

Adelina hesitated for a second, but after clocking the two men flanking Willow and realizing she was more than safe, she quietly retreated.

Willow leveled her gaze at Silas. She knew he was a master manipulator when it came to public opinion. If Adelina stepped in, Silas would undoubtedly turn his vicious retaliation on her.

Adelina was just an ordinary doctor; making her a target of Silas's petty wrath wasn't worth the risk.

Only then did Willow finally drag her lazy gaze back to Silas.

He had expected her to cave, but instead, she merely let out a mocking laugh and asked deliberately, "What does any of that have to do with me?"

Silas stared at her in shock, entirely unprepared for that response.

He found himself staring hard at her. It was the first time in years he had actually looked her in the eyes, and he suddenly realized that the desperate adoration that used to live there had completely vanished, replaced by cold indifference.
