Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 22

It was footage she had stumbled upon while gathering proof of Elias and Tessa's affair.

Originally, out of respect for her late parents' memory, Willow hadn't wanted to make a scene or leak these videos to the public. But Julian's behavior today had thoroughly shattered whatever warmth she had left for him.

To disregard their own mother's heirloom just to coddle an adopted daughter... it was utterly ridiculous.

She forced down the burning anger in her chest and hailed a cab to the hospital.

By her calculations, the lab results from that glass of milk should be ready.

Upon arriving at the hospital, Willow went straight to get her leg treated.

Thankfully, the wound looked worse than it actually was. It wasn't overly deep and would scab over in a few days.

Once she was bandaged up, she headed to pick up the toxicology report.

When the thin piece of paper was finally placed in her hand, Willow stared at the results. She couldn't stop the cynical laugh that slipped past her lips.

The milk contained a massive dose of sleeping pills... and aphrodisiacs.

No wonder she had lost consciousness so quickly in her past life, ending up in such a compromising situation with a total stranger.

From the very beginning, they had never intended to let her live a clean, decent life.

Her grip tightened on the report, crushing the crisp paper in her fist.

Three seconds later, she let out a hollow chuckle, easing her grip on the crumpled page. She smoothed it out, folded it neatly, and tucked it safely into the inner zip of her bag before walking out of the hospital.

The moment she stepped through the main doors, she bumped right into someone turning the corner.

She looked up instinctively, immediately locking eyes with Lucian's strikingly handsome face.

She blinked in surprise. "What are you doing here?"
