In a daze, Julian turned his head. His gaze cut through the crowd and landed squarely on Willow, who hadn't left the courtroom yet.
She didn't spare them a single glance, nor did she display an ounce of guilt. She was freely embracing Vivienne, sharing her triumphant joy with her friends.
In that split second, Julian was suddenly terrified to hear the truth.
What if... what if it wasn't what he thought it was?
His heart hammered violently against his ribs. Blood rushed to his head, making his eyes bloodshot and his lips tremble, rendering him completely mute.
For a moment, his rising panic overwhelmed his desperate need for answers.
On the other end of the line, the investigator probed cautiously. "Mr. Shaw? Do you want me to send the files over?"
Julian remained silent for a long time, an agonizing war waging in his mind. After what felt like an eternity, he forced out a raspy, "Yes."
With that, he hung up.
Tessa scuttled over from the gallery, approaching Leo with exaggerated caution. Just as she reached out to tug at his sleeve, she was met with his frigid glare.
Her fingers froze mid-air, and she put on a wounded expression. "Leo, I don't know what I did to make you hate me so much, but I'll apologize, okay? Please don't be impulsive and leave the family. Don't you want your brothers anymore? You..."
Her pathetic act was ruthlessly cut short.
Leo's gaze landed on her like a physical blow. Every word he spoke dripped with venomous disdain. "Could you stop making me sick? Tessa, if you really felt an ounce of guilt, how about you pack your bags and leave the Shaw family?"
Tessa's pupils contracted sharply. Her mind went completely blank, her fingers curling involuntarily at her sides.
What a joke!
