Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 24

But her mother hadn't lived to see her get married, and neither had the bracelet.

It had shattered right in front of Willow's eyes, and no one but her had cared.

Her eyelashes fluttered. She desperately wanted to fix it but had no idea where to even start. All she could do was carefully place the pieces into a small velvet box and set it right in the center of her desk.

Willow didn't leave the study until night fell. Lucian kept glancing toward the closed door, his gaze growing darker with every passing hour.

Inside, Willow eventually fell into a restless sleep, clutching the velvet box to her chest.

She woke up around noon the next day to the sharp chime of her phone. She groggily checked the screen and saw a message from an anonymous number: [Willow, do you really think latching onto a couple of new money billionaires will save your reputation? I suggest you stop struggling. It's useless.]

She knew instantly that it was Tessa. She tried to type a reply, but the message bounced back.

The number had already been deactivated.

Willow scoffed. Did Tessa really think deleting a burner number would make her untraceable? Willow's hacking skills were top-tier. In minutes, she traced the IP address and compiled all the data into a file, ready to expose it alongside the toxic messages.

Once that was done, she logged into BuzzWire to check the public fallout.

To her surprise, she raised an eyebrow. The timeline felt... tame. It was as if someone had actively suppressed the trending hashtags.

Someone was helping her?

But who?

Willow scrolled through the timeline and eventually spotted a familiar username in the comment sections: [W].

In her past life, Willow had been bullied relentlessly. To make sure she could never bounce back, Tessa had periodically bought trending search terms or fabricated rumors to destroy her reputation.
