Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 249

Elias didn't even turn his head. His gaze remained entirely fixated on Willow, acting as though her answer was the only thing in the world that mattered.

In that moment, Tessa's heart plummeted into ice. She crouched down, frantically trying to gather the shattered porcelain pieces, only for the jagged edges to slice into her hands. Blood welled up and dripped onto the floor.

But the physical pain was absolutely nothing compared to the agony in her chest.

Did Elias really love Willow that much? So much so that even the child growing inside her couldn't compete with a single word from Willow?

Willow watched Tessa's utter humiliation with immense amusement.

She never claimed to be a saint. Seeing her enemies suffer genuinely made her happy.

She narrowed her eyes slightly, tilting her head as she asked with deliberate malice, "Elias, are you sure? Back then, weren't you madly in love with Tessa? You were even willing to throw away our years of history just to swap brides for her. Why the sudden change of heart?"

Hearing her bring that up, Elias felt a surge of guilt. His Adam's apple bobbed uncontrollably.

He let out a heavy sigh. "Willow, I admit I was wrong. I own that. But I need you to understand that my involvement with Tessa was nothing but a fleeting moment of novelty. I never had any deep feelings for her. Honestly, she was the one who intentionally seduced me, and I was just too young to resist the temptation. I regret it completely. Willow, you are the only woman I have ever loved."

He delivered this entire monologue with intense, soulful sincerity, as if he genuinely believed every word he was saying.

Willow couldn't hold it back anymore. She burst out laughing.

She laughed so hard she practically collapsed against her chair, her shoulders shaking.

Elias was thoroughly bewildered by her reaction, but then he reasoned that Willow was probably just overwhelmed with joy, hence the total loss of composure.

If he knew what was actually going through her mind, she would have laughed even harder.

Men truly were fascinating creatures. They were the ones who couldn't stay loyal and did disgusting things, yet they always managed to pin the blame on the women.

When they cheated, they blamed the other woman for seducing them. They blamed their wives for being too exhausted from chores to look attractive, or for not being gentle and accommodating enough. They blamed the alcohol, the lighting, the mood—they would blame literally anything except themselves.
