Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 261

In the decade since Tessa Thorne joined the Shaw family, this was the first time she had ever been struck.

She had been completely caught off guard, her vision blurring for a moment in sheer shock.

Moving stiffly, she turned her head and immediately met Xavier Shaw’s furious glare.

"You... you hit me?" she asked, her voice trembling with disbelief.

Willow Shaw hadn't expected Xavier to actually get physical either, raising an eyebrow in genuine surprise.

Lucian Jagger’s gaze shifted, and he gently pinched her earlobe. "Did that scare you?"

Willow rolled her eyes inwardly. Why hadn't he worried about scaring her when he was casually pulling out guns at the slightest disagreement?

Lucian knew Willow was bold and didn't actually think she was frightened. He just didn't want her dwelling on the loss of her mother's heirlooms.

He had intended to distract her, but the moment his skin touched hers, all of his own focus was entirely hijacked.

For a brief second, Lucian's gaze lost its sharp focus.

The skin beneath his fingertips was incredibly soft and delicate, making it impossible for him to pull away.

Willow didn't think much of the gesture, keeping her eyes fixed on the standoff between Xavier and Tessa.

As for feeling sad, there was definitely a lingering ache in her chest.

But the damage was already done. What else could she do?

Crying wouldn't magically bring the heirlooms back into her hands.

Before she could finish the thought, Lucian's husky voice brushed against her ear. "Don't worry. I'll have the Jagger family tear the city apart. We'll find them."

Willow froze. The warm breath ghosting over her earlobe sent a shiver straight down her spine.

Her heartbeat instantly spiked, thudding against her ribs like a frantic drum.
