Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 291

Sterling Jagger!

What was he doing here?!

And hiding behind the curtains in Tessa's hospital room, of all places?

What exactly was the relationship between these two?

Willow narrowed her eyes. In an instant, she recalled what Tessa and Xavier had mentioned earlier: someone from the Jagger family had injected capital into the Shaw family business.

Looking at it now, that investor was clearly Sterling.

Sterling's gaze was borderline obsessive as it locked onto Willow's face. It had been a long time since they last saw each other, and the radiant confidence in her eyes only made him more captivated. Every movement she made was dripping with effortless allure.

Why did a pathetic wretch like Lucian deserve her affection?

It was enough to drive a man mad with jealousy.

He stepped forward and grabbed Willow's hand. Her skin was incredibly soft, and the mere touch sent his heart pounding against his ribs.

His Adam's apple bobbed. His eyes darkened for a split second before he spoke softly, "Long time no see."

A shiver of disgust ran down Willow's spine. Sterling shared a passing resemblance to Lucian, but his features were paler and far more sinister. He looked like a ghastly wraith—a beautiful, creeping nightmare.

It felt like once he latched onto you, you would never shake him off.

She yanked her hand back forcefully, but he maintained an iron grip. Willow frowned, ready to curse him out, when a sharp swoosh cut through the air. A split second later, Lucian's fist slammed directly into Sterling's brow bone!

Sterling didn't even try to dodge. He didn't blink, keeping his eyes firmly fixed on Willow. "See, Willow? He's a violent maniac. Not only is he insanely possessive, but he has absolutely no spirit of sharing. Unlike me. If you were with me, I wouldn't mind coexisting peacefully with other men."

Lucian's gaze turned dangerously lethal. "Do you have a death wish, Sterling?"

Sterling merely raised an eyebrow, still looking at Willow. "See? I told you he was violent. You shouldn't settle for a man like this. Why not date me instead? I'm younger, I listen to instructions, and I'm definitely better than him."

Lucian's expression darkened even further. Sensing his boiling rage, Willow gently brushed her fingers against the back of his hand.

The cool, soothing touch pulled him back from the edge, instantly extinguishing the inferno inside him.
