At the sound of Willow's voice, the slender figure paused for a fraction of a second before slowly emerging from the shadows. Her innocent, delicate face was contorted with twisted hatred. Tilting her head, she let out a soft scoff. "Willow, I knew you'd come."
Willow scoffed, making no effort to hide her disgust. "Tessa, aren't you supposed to be in fragile health and on the verge of a miscarriage? Still have the energy to stir up trouble? What? Don't want the Landon family's baby anymore? Are your days as Mrs. Landon numbered?"
As she spoke, Willow discreetly started an audio recording on her phone.
The barrage of sharp questions struck a nerve. Tessa gritted her teeth. "Mind your own business! You'd better spend this time worrying about your father instead!"
The smile on Willow's lips slowly vanished, leaving her gaze ice-cold. "You dare use him as leverage? Aren't you afraid of the consequences?"
Tessa locked eyes with her and chuckled. "Willow, if I didn't have news about your dad, I wouldn't have brought it up. Are you sure you want to talk to me with that attitude?"
Willow stared her down. A faint, smug satisfaction danced in Tessa's eyes without a hint of guilt. She seemed... genuinely confident.
"Don't look at me like that." Tessa flipped her hair. "Willow, grovel at my feet, beg for mercy, and slap yourself in the face ten times. If you do that, I'll forgive you. How does that sound?"
Willow laughed out loud at the sheer absurdity of it. "You're delusional."
Unfazed, Tessa drawled slowly, "Willow, your father is on the Uncharted Isle. I'm the only person in the world who knows exactly where he is. You only get one chance. If you don't do exactly as I say, you will never see him again."
Willow's fingers twitched.
Could Tessa be trusted?
She spoke with such absolute certainty, making it sound entirely real.
But Tessa was a pathological liar.
Willow's fingertips brushed against the cold metal of the gun concealed in her sleeve. Tessa's confident gaze remained fixed on her, clearly convinced that Willow would cave and follow her demands.
