When Tessa heard those words, she felt a jealousy so intense it practically drove her insane.
Even someone who made a massive contribution to The Federated States only received one single firearm as a reward! Once it was given away, there were no more!
Just what was so special about Willow? How did she earn such fierce devotion?
Tessa clenched her jaw so hard her teeth ached, unable to hold back her demand, "Who exactly are you?"
Lucian raised a brow, chuckling lightly. "Don't you know? I'm the guy you casually picked up off the street to frame Willow."
That one simple sentence turned Tessa's expression impossibly ugly.
Lucian was deliberately rubbing it in—he was the weapon she had personally handed to Willow!
Tessa couldn't stop the spiraling thoughts. If she had taken Lucian in back then, would everything be different now?
Would the gun in Willow's hand belong to her instead?
The thought took root like wild weeds, completely overtaking her mind in a matter of seconds.
It was absolute agony.
Nearby, the officer checked the firearms license, comparing the official seal with a serious expression. "The permit is valid. Willow is cleared."
With those final words, all the fight drained out of Tessa, leaving her eyes entirely bloodshot.
Willow, on the other hand, scoffed. Looking at Tessa's defeated face, she shot back, "Tessa, when you deliberately set out to ruin others, did you ever consider that it might backfire on you?"
Tessa choked on her words, unable to formulate a response. She was practically hauled up like a sack of dead weight by the officers and shoved directly into the police cruiser.
It was only then that she snapped out of her daze, instinctively looking toward Julian for help.
But his eyes were fixed entirely on Willow; he didn't spare Tessa a single glance.
Right up until the cruiser doors slammed shut, no one even looked her way.
The officer turned to Willow, feeling a pang of sympathy. She was so young to be dealing with something this traumatic; she had to be terrified, right?
When he spoke again, his tone was noticeably gentler, carrying a comforting edge. "We'll need you to come down to the station with us. Don't worry, it's just to take a statement."
Willow nodded, offering no resistance, and quietly climbed into a police car.
Once at the station, she handed over her audio recording, while Colton Miller, who had stayed close by her side, submitted the video footage he had captured.
In the video, Tessa's hideous, twisted behavior was laid bare for all to see. Xavier stared intensely at her vicious expressions, his eyes darkening with gloom.
The visual impact of the video was far worse than the audio alone. Just watching it sent a chill down Xavier's spine.
