Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 343

Seeing Willow remain silent, Barnaby's aggressive stance softened slightly.

He realized he had let his temper get the better of him. She was Robert's daughter, after all; there was no need to humiliate her completely.

With that in mind, his tone leveled out. "Scared? If you're scared, then be a good girl, go home, and stop interfering with The Shaw Group..."

Before he could finish his patronizing speech, Willow smiled brightly. "I accept."

The words caught in Barnaby's throat. His thick brows knitted together in deep disapproval.

He had expected her to back down, but as he looked into her eyes, he saw nothing but absolute clarity.

There was no stubborn pride, no nervous hesitation. It was the calm certainty of someone who knew exactly what they were doing.

His mind went blank, entirely unsure of what to say next.

Willow casually continued, "However, taking this bet as is would be highly unfair to me."

Barnaby blinked, eyeing her warily.

"Director Bishop," Willow said with a pleasant smile, "once I take over Edenic Bloom, The Shaw Group will not be responsible for any of its financial losses. It will all come out of my personal accounts."

Barnaby frowned heavily. "That's an incredibly harsh condition to place on yourself."

"Don't panic just yet." Willow chuckled. "Let me finish."

A creeping sense of dread suddenly settled in Barnaby's gut.

Standing off to the side, Silas rolled his eyes, groaning impatiently. "Willow, you're tacking on all these ridiculous demands because you're terrified of failing, aren't you? You're just looking for an excuse to back out!"
