Betrayed by Blood: My Second Life as a Queen novel Chapter 41

Beatrice Landon was absolutely livid, her voice venomous as she spat out her final warning. "You just wait!"

With a sharp click, the call disconnected.

Less than an hour later, Willow Shaw received an official termination email.

She raised an eyebrow, entirely unbothered, and typed out her reply. "Termination without cause requires severance pay. I've worked at the Landon Group for three years. Based on my salary, you owe me fifty thousand dollars."

Did they really think she was that easy to get rid of?

When Beatrice saw the email, she practically lost her mind. "You smeared the Landon Group's reputation! Firing you is completely justified!"

Willow smoothly attached a PDF of her original employment contract. "Sorry, that excuse doesn't hold up. There's no such clause in my contract."

Beatrice was so furious her vision blurred, almost passing out from the sheer audacity.

Willow couldn't care less. She shut her laptop at a leisurely pace and shifted her gaze to the lab report resting on her desk.

It was the toxicology report for the glass of milk Xavier had handed her on the morning of that disastrous wedding.

She had originally planned to expose it during Vivienne Vance's welcome banquet, but she held back.

If she released this evidence, Xavier would likely face real prison time. Her late mother wouldn't have wanted to see her own child behind bars, would she?

Besides, the Shaw family was already paying the price. The abuse scandal alone had caused the Shaw Group's stock to plummet.

Lowering her gaze, Willow locked the lab report inside her drawer. If Xavier and the rest of them learned their lesson and backed off, she would pretend this report didn't exist.

But if they kept pushing her, she wouldn't show them an ounce of mercy.

With that settled, a wave of exhaustion finally hit her. She walked back into the bedroom, her eyes darting toward the front door. Lucian Jagger still wasn't back.

Had something happened to him?
