Elias nodded and didn't say anything else. The room instantly plunged into silence, save for the faint sound of Willow sipping her water.
Tessa had expected to be treated like royalty when she arrived, but she never imagined Caspian would act so indifferent.
The fact that Willow was sitting right there watching made the humiliation sting even more.
Tessa could barely maintain her smile, but she still managed to speak softly, "Caspian, are we interrupting you? If it's a bad time, we can chat later."
Caspian sighed. With her phrasing it like that, how could he possibly kick them out?
"You're not interrupting. What is it you want to discuss?"
Tessa immediately flashed an obedient smile. "Caspian, I composed a piece myself, and I was hoping you could give me some pointers..."
Having been critiqued by Vivienne before, Tessa knew her composing talent was limited. To ensure she secured this apprenticeship, she had secretly bought the sheet music.
Vivienne hadn't planned on saying anything, but the moment she heard that, she scoffed. "Is this piece stolen from our Willow again, by any chance?"
Tessa's face flushed a brilliant shade of crimson. Her hand, clutching the sheet music, tightened uncontrollably until the paper crumpled.
Then, suppressing her burning rage, she tried to answer as calmly as possible, "Ms. Vance, I admit I was naive in the past and made a mistake, but you can't view me through a biased lens forever. I'm actively trying to improve. I composed this piece myself, and it has nothing to do with anyone else!"
Vivienne wasn't buying her nonsense for a second. It had only been a few days since Tessa stole that sheet music. There was no way someone so malicious could change her stripes that fast.
