In that moment, a dead silence fell over the area.
Tessa had completely unanticipated Willow's reappearance. Her expression went entirely blank. Instinctively, she shot a look at Xavier and Elias, and upon meeting their skeptical gazes, her heart skipped a panicked beat.
Because the truth was... she had actually done exactly that.
The first emotion bred from extreme guilt is anger. Tessa loudly shot back at Willow, "Stop spitting venom! I've never even been in a relationship in my life, how could I possibly do something so outrageous!"
Watching her frantic display, Willow couldn't help but lightly arch an eyebrow. "Tessa, it's one thing to deceive others, but don't go brainwashing yourself in the process."
Her effortless, breezy demeanor was far more infuriating than any hysterical screaming could ever be.
For a second, Tessa felt as if the gazes of Xavier and Elias had transformed into sharp blades, slicing through her flesh and scrutinizing her very soul.
Her scalp tingled with dread as she gritted her teeth. "Willow! If you really want to slander me, then show them the proof!"
Willow let out a mocking chuckle. "Why on earth would I need to show proof? You're the one who needs to prove your innocence. You had a grand time spreading rumors about me earlier, didn't you? Why so upset now? Don't be a hypocrite, Tess."
Her tone was slightly playful, as if she were deliberately teasing her, but Tessa could vividly feel the malice radiating from Willow.
Almost instantly, her face flushed red with fury as she desperately turned to the two men. "Xavier, Elias, do you guys actually think I'm that kind of person too?"
Xavier had just been deeply moved by her wiping the filth off his clothes. This was the exact moment his protective instincts for Tessa were at their peak. Hearing her plea, he whipped his head around and glared coldly at Willow. "Stop maliciously attacking Tessa. If you can't produce evidence, then apologize to her immediately!"
Willow laughed out of pure exasperation. "Are you out of your mind? If you want to know the truth, go investigate it yourself, so you can't accuse me of forging it if I hand it over. Besides..."
