Chapter 2
In the darkness, the female manager didn’t say a word. She lifted her high-heeled foot and kicked me hard in
the stomach.
The pain was so sharp that I immediately curled into a ball, my stomach churning violently.
“That’s what you get for using my man’s money!”
“How dare you seduce him!”
She screamed, her voice twisted with jealousy and rage.
Looking down at me with contempt, she ordered the two burly security guards, “Beat her! Beat her to a pulp!”
The two guards, clearly her lackeys, didn’t hesitate for a second. Their fists and feet rained down on me like an unrelenting storm.
I clenched my teeth, swallowing every scream and groan.
It felt like my bones were being crushed inch by inch, my organs displaced.
Her screeching continued, “You think you’re something? You’re just a desperate gold-digger!”
“I told you I’m his sister! Don’t believe me? Call Blake and ask him! I’ll tell him myself!”
I tried to explain, but the woman ignored me completely. She raised her hand and gestured for them to stop until I became dizzy and disoriented.
She placed her high-heeled foot on my shoulder, smiling sweetly as she looked down at me.
“You’d better pay your bill today, plus another $500,000.”
“This is the price for trying to seduce my man and using his money.”
“I’m not afraid of things getting deadly. Blake will take care of everything for me.”
The pain made me curl up in a ball, barely able to speak, “It’s my own money… I told you… ask him if you don’t believe me.”
Her face twisted with anger. She kicked me again, and the two guards Immediately understood, resuming their brutal assault.
I knew she wouldn’t listen, no matter what I said. If this went on, I might really die here.
After they beat me so badly that I coughed up blood, I gathered every last ounce of strength to feel around
23.08%
for my phone on the floor.
“Stop… I… I’ll pay.”
She seemed satisfied with my submission, signaling the guards to stop. She crouched down and patted my
swollen cheek.
“Should’ve done that from the start, huh? You should’ve done this earlier instead of making things difficult.”
“One million. Not a penny less.”
I lay there on the cold ground, gasping for air, my lungs burning.
I ignored her and dialed my best friend, Lily.
