Lauren reached for her phone with trembling hands and started to dial, but before she could finish, the phone was snatched from her grasp. Dominic had taken it.

Lauren looked at him, shaking. “Adrian, my daughter could die. Someone who doesn’t know how to take care of babies took her. She’s really going to die.”

“I already called the police before I came,” Dominic said, his voice deep.
