Billionaire’s Regret After Losing Her (Aurelia) novel Chapter 212

Chapter 212 Afternoon Tea

“If you ask me, you need to lock things down with Grant,” Lauren said, leaning forward. “Everything she’s doing right now? It’s only because Grant’s backing her up.”

Lydia and Eleanor exchanged a quick glance, and it was clear they both agreed.

In their minds, what could some orphan possibly have going for her? The only reason Aurelia could act so boldly in the Hawthorne family was that she had Grant’s protection.

Eleanor’s jaw clenched. “Lauren’s right. You need to make your move with Grant and make it fast.”

She’d already pushed aside the embarrassment of being turned away at the Fletcher family’s door. That didn’t

matter anymore.

If Lydia could win Grant over, Aurelia would lose her only shield, and without that protection, she’d be powerless.

Lydia’s frustration flared. “It’s not like I can just snap my fingers and make it happen.”

Did they really think she wasn’t trying? She wanted nothing more than to secure things with Grant, but every time she got close, he shut her down.

Her mind flashed back to that humiliating moment at Fletcher Group when Grant had dismissed her in front of

everyone.

He’d crushed her feelings without a second thought, and the memory still burned.

Eleanor shot Lydia a sharp look, her irritation rising. Lydia’s lack of progress was infuriating.

Before Lydia could say anything to defend herself, Lauren cut in. “I told you before-men like gentle women. The way you acted toward the Fletcher family, and Grant saw the whole thing, so of course he’s got a problem with you

now.”

Lydia’s stomach dropped. “So what am I supposed to do

now?”

Grant already had it out for her, which meant her only hope was winning over the Fletcher family elders.

at all.

Lauren waved a hand dismissively. “Just go apologize to Grant. Men eat that stuff up. They can’t resist a woman who needs their protection.”

Eleanor nodded eagerly. “Exactly. The only reason Grant’s so protective of Aurelia is because she knows how to play the victim.”

Lydia stayed silent.

Just hearing Aurelia’s name made her blood boil.

Poor? That woman was about as pitiful as a tigress-all claws and teeth when she wanted to be.

And yet Grant still protected her like she was made of glass.

Maybe Aurelia knew how to play the helpless act in front of him, but Lydia couldn’t stomach the thought of doing the same.

Eleanor and Lauren had to practically beg Lydia before she finally agreed to go see Grant that afternoon 13:07

Eleanor promised she’d have the kitchen prepare some of Grant’s favorite dishes.

She’d done her homework and figured out exactly what

he liked to eat.

But when she went to tell the kitchen staff to start preparing everything, they dropped a bomb on her—they couldn’t even get into the kitchen.

Aurelia’s people had taken over the entire space and weren’t letting anyone else in.

That meant not only were she and Lydia going without lunch, but Lauren’s postpartum meals weren’t getting

made either.

Eleanor’s blood boiled the second she heard the news. “Didn’t her staff already go in there to cook earlier? Why the hell are they still using the kitchen?” she snapped.

The housekeeper stood there silently, her face tight with worry, not knowing what to say.

“And another thing-is our kitchen too small or what? Why won’t they let you in?” Eleanor demanded.

She was furious.

It was almost noon, and Lauren’s meals hadn’t even started yet.

Aurelia really thought she owned the Hawthorne Manor now, didn’t she?

The housekeeper looked miserable. “Her people are blocking the doorway and won’t let any of our staff get close,” she explained.

Eleanor’s anger exploded, and she immediately headed downstairs to confront Aurelia.

When she reached the dining room, she found Aurelia sitting at the table with a full spread of food laid out in

front of her.

Eleanor stormed over and snapped, “Aurelia! What the hell is your problem? Why won’t you let the Hawthorne family staff use the kitchen?”

Fine, she brought her own nutritionist. They weren’t responsible for her meals anyway.

But blocking the family’s staff from their own kitchen?

That crossed a line.

Aurelia kept eating, slow and deliberate, like Eleanor

wasn’t even there.

Eleanor moved toward the table, ready to give her a piece of her mind.

But before she got within five feet, two maids stepped in front of her and blocked her path.

They looked slim and unassuming, but the strength in their grip was anything but ordinary.

Just standing there, arms crossed, they radiated the same suffocating tension Eleanor had felt two hours ago during the earlier confrontation.

And their gazes were cold, sharp, and unnervingly calm.

Eleanor’s breath caught in her throat.

They looked more like trained assassins, and their sharp, calculating eyes said it all.

The fire that had been burning in Eleanor’s chest

flickered and died under the weight of their silent threat.

Still, she glared at Aurelia and demanded, “What’s your problem?”

Aurelia set down her fork and looked up. “Mrs. Eleanor Hawthorne, surely you haven’t forgotten why I ended up in the hospital with severe bleeding last time.”

Eleanor’s heart skipped a beat.

That hemorrhage-Bianca’s people had poisoned her.

Aurelia’s voice was calm and cutting. “How do I know your staff won’t slip something into my food again?”

“We’re done cooking now,” Eleanor said through gritted teeth. “So we can use the kitchen, right?”

She couldn’t believe Aurelia was accusing her of poisoning anyone.

But standing there, faced with those stone-faced maids. and Aurelia’s complete lack of fear, Eleanor realized she had zero leverage.

Aurelia didn’t answer right away. Then she said flatly, “Ng. Not now.”

“Why not?” Eleanor’s voice shot up, fury flooding back.

Aurelia said, “My people are making afternoon tea for me right now, so you’ll just have to wait.”

Eleanor shot back, “You’re still eating lunch and you’re already thinking about afternoon tea?”

She hadn’t even finished her meal, and she was already planning the next one. Was she deliberately hogging the

kitchen?

Aurelia picked up her bowl and took a sip of soup. “Can’t help it. What I want is complicated, so they need to start preparing now.”

Eleanor asked, “How long is this going to take?”

“No idea.”

Eleanor fell silent.

She was furious.

Aurelia was doing this on purpose.
