Chapter 250 How Dare She
Eleanor’s anger ignited something vicious inside her, and all she could think about now was making Aurelia pay-preferably with her life.
Lydia said, “Look, we need to at least get some food tonight, right? Even if we can handle it, what about Lauren? She just had a baby.”
It was obvious that no matter what Eleanor wanted to do next,
tonight she had to swallow her pride.
Eleanor’s chest heaved when she heard Lydia’s words. “You’re right. Lauren needs to eat.”
She might be annoyed with Lauren acting all delicate right now, but with Marilyn backing her up, Eleanor had no choice but to take care of her. Marilyn wasn’t someone she wanted to
cross.
In the end, she forced down her rage. When Lydia handed her the towel, Eleanor nearly gagged.
Lydia said, “Come on, let’s get this done. It’s late and we need to eat something before we can sleep.”
Lydia and Eleanor tried to finish as quickly as possible, but Aurelia’s staff watched them like hawks and wouldn’t accept:16 onything less then perfect They oven had to scrub the floors by

Back when the Hawthorne family still had servants, they’d never pushed them this hard. But now Aurelia was making them suffer through it.
When Dominic came home, he found Eleanor and Lydia on their hands and knees, scrubbing the staircase floor.
Even though he’d had plenty of disagreements with Eleanor before, seeing his own mother being treated like this made his anger spike.
“What the hell are you doing?” he snapped.
He strode forward and kicked over the bucket in front of Eleanor and Lydia.
Water splashed across the stairs instantly.
When Lydia and Eleanor heard Dominic’s voice, they both jumped.
Before they could even process what was happening, the bucket went flying.
Dominic’s voice was ice-cold and dangerous. “She made you do
this?”

schedule, they should’ve been asleep by now.
But Aurelia had them scrubbing stairs during their rest time?
What a wonderful wife she was turning out to be.
Dominic’s breathing turned harsh and furious.
Eleanor looked at Dominic, and all her anger melted into hurt. “You’re finally back. I called you so many times. Why didn’t you pick up? Did you think I was just making a scene again?”
Tears streamed down Eleanor’s face.
In that moment, her pain was real.
She’d never been pushed around like this in her entire life, and now Aurelia, the one person she’d always looked down on, was the one doing it.
Lydia started crying too. “Aurelia said the Hawthorne family doesn’t keep freeloaders around,” she said, her voice breaking. “If we want to eat under this roof, we have to work for it. And she cut off all our spending outside too-hotels, restaurants, even our mobile payments. Everything’s been restricted.”
In other words, if they wanted to fill their stomachs now, they had no choice but to do what Aurelia said.

Dominic’s breathing came faster. “Nothing works anymore?

he asked, his voice tight.
“Nothing,” Lydia confirmed with a nod.
Eleanor had never been one to cry, but now she kept wiping at her tears, one after another.
When a mother broke down like that, it cut her children the deepest.
Even though Dominic hadn’t agreed with a lot of what Eleanor said before, seeing her show weakness in front of him like this made the rage in his chest explode.
He stormed upstairs, heading straight for Aurelia.
Right now, Dominic wanted nothing more than to strangle her.
Yes, Eleanor had made mistakes, but that didn’t give Aurelia the right to treat them like this.
If Eleanor’s behavior was so outrageous, Aurelia could’ve just ignored her.
But to torture them like this as his wife? How dare she?
Dominic headed straight for Aurelia’s room, but two guards stood posted at her door.

The moment he got close, they blocked his path.

He was already pissed off, and now this pushed him over the edge. He lunged at the guards, and a fight broke out.
Dominic could handle himself in a fight, no question about
that.
But Aurelia had brought too many men with her. As soon as he took down the first two guards, two more jumped in to replace
them.
Before he could deal with them, more security rushed over after getting the alert.
He was outnumbered, and within minutes they had him pinned to the floor.
He struggled like a wild animal and shouted, “Let go of me! Aurelia, get out here!”
Gareth stepped forward and stood over Dominic, looking down at him with cold eyes.
When he saw that Dominic was about to wake Aurelia, he gave a sharp order. “Take him downstairs.”
That was just how things worked with Aurelia now. Once she went into her room to sleep, no one was allowed to disturb her. Not anyone.

Even Dominic had no chance of seeing her if she didn’t want to be seen.
“Aurelia!” Dominic yelled again.
But one of the guards clamped a hand over his mouth, and the group dragged him downstairs.
Eleanor and Lydia had put on quite the show together.
Eleanor figured that once Dominic got riled up like that, he’d definitely make Aurelia’s life hell.
But who would’ve thought-he barely made it upstairs before Aurelia’s bodyguards shoved him right back down.
They treated him exactly the same way they’d treated her and Lydia.
Seeing Dominic handled like that made Eleanor’s eyes flash red with fury.
“You bastards, let him go!” she shrieked. “Who the hell do you think you are, treating us like this in the Hawthorne Manor?”
