Billionaire’s Regret After Losing Her (Aurelia) novel Chapter 292

Chapter 292 I Have Every Right

“You could just cut corners,” Lauren snapped irritably.

Why did Kellen work so diligently? A quick, sloppy job would do. With this much work, who could possibly finish it all?

“You can’t,” Kellen replied. “They check every little thing.”

If she could cut corners, she would have.

That morning, Kellen had tried doing a rushed, half-hearted job, but it didn’t pass inspection.

Aurelia’s people were watching too closely.

Now she didn’t dare be careless-if they made her redo it, she’d have to redo everything.

All the work from the morning had to be repeated in the afternoon.

If she’d done it properly from the start, Kellen would probably be cleaning the basement by now.

She wouldn’t still be stuck with the rooftop sunroom.

And working on it at night wasn’t ideal, but Aurelia’s people insisted on inspecting every detail.

ry Right

Kellen, dizzy from hunger, didn’t dare cut any more corners.

Lauren’s face darkened.

Hearing that, she almost passed out from anger.

Her body hadn’t recovered, and she’d been eating sporadically. Now, she’d gone a whole day without food.

“How much longer will it take?” she asked sharply.

She was starving, lightheaded from missing lunch.

Not eating properly had left her feeling completely hollow.

“At least five more hours,” Kellen replied.

The sunroom was sizable, and the basement even more so- both required deep cleaning.

And she was doing it alone.

This much work, back when she was with Marilyn, would have been split between several people.

Handling it all by herself was becoming unbearable.

Lauren asked, “Five hours? Can’t you work faster?”

The thought of waiting that long made her temper flare.

Five more hours would be past midnight. How could she wait that long?

She was already starving.

Seeing Lauren’s obvious displeasure, Kellen bit back her own frustration. “If several people did it, it’d take about an hour. But it’s just me.”

“What? You want me to help you?” Lauren retorted.

Kellen stated, “No. I’m telling you to go back to your room and rest.”

Take that attitude to Aurelia!

“Yes,” Aurelia said calmly.

She lifted her gaze to meet Lauren’s, that single word making Lauren feel her vision swim with fury.

Aurelia admitted it, and she was just doing it on purpose.

To be blunt, this wasn’t about overworking Kellen-it was targeted squarely at Lauren.

“You have no right!” Lauren’s breath came in sharp gasps. “Kellen just needs to do the work of two people. You gave her ten people today.”

She believed Aurelia was just trying to exhaust someone. But if one person did one person’s work, and Kellen did two shares, including Lauren’s, that should be enough.

Why did Aurelia assign her so much?

Because the workload was impossible, Kellen couldn’t finish, and Lauren went hungry.

Lauren wondered when Aurelia became so vicious.

Isn’t she afraid of karma?

Meeting Lauren’s furious glare, Aurelia smiled, “I have every right. Because right now, I’m in charge of the entire Hawthorne

Manor.”

Lauren was speechless.

She’s in charge?

It was true. Aurelia controlled everything now. Even Dominic, who once held sway over half of New York, was completely under her thumb.

Lauren couldn’t understand why Grant indulged her so much.

sThe smile on Aurelia’s lips was utterly grating to Lauren’s eyes.
