Chapter 291 Pure Hatred
She was already stunned when Sebastian agreed.
But the mention of marriage? That hit her like a punch to the chest.
“Why are you doing this?” she asked.
Meeting Grant’s intense gaze, Aurelia could clearly see the determination in his eyes.
It made her heart ache.
“If it feels too fast, take your time to think it over,” Grant said. “Just don’t take too long.”
Aurelia looked down.
He wasn’t exactly forcing her, but his resolve was unmistakable.
“When did this start?” she asked quietly.
Before, she’d never sensed he felt this way about her.
So why now, after everything with Dominic… especially with how he’d kept his distance before?
“Your brother and I were alumni. And you and I…” Grant paused, leaving the sentence unfinished.
Aurelia watched him.
A fond smile touched his lips. “Let’s just say, fate has a funny way of pulling people together.”
“Our… fate?” Aurelia asked.
“Yes.” Grant nodded.
Aurelia was confused.
It sounded like they had known each other for a long time.
But she didn’t remember him at all.
They talked for a while longer.
Grant never did explain what kind of fate connected them. But after his sudden marriage proposal, Aurelia felt dazed all the way until they parted.
Dominic had ridden into the city with Lucas.
While waiting at a red light, both of them saw it-Grant holding the car door open for Aurelia, a tender scene.
Dominic’s blood ran cold again.
Lucas glanced at him. “Dominic…”
“She still refuses a divorce even now. Who is she trying to humiliate-me, or Grant?” Dominic’s voice was tight.
So fucking insane.
Lucas stayed silent.
Obviously, it was Dominic.
Anyone could see why Aurelia had really returned to the Hawthorne Manor.
Right now, Dominic was so furious he felt ready to burn everything down-himself included.
Seeing Aurelia and Grant together so openly made his stomach twist.
Lucas had meant to take him to eat, but Dominic was in no state to go to a restaurant.
Knowing him well, Lucas just picked up takeout and headed to Hawthorne Group instead, eating with him there.
Dominic hadn’t eaten properly in days.
Lucas watched him, sighed, and opened his mouth as if to speak-then closed it again.
He still didn’t dare mention the Smith Group.

Back at the Hawthorne Manor, Lauren couldn’t take it anymore.
Aurelia was ruthless. Marilyn had sent Kellen here to shoulder the workload-whatever was assigned to Lauren, Kellen did it all.
And because Kellen worked more, Lauren would still get some food.
But today, the chores piled up endlessly. Kellen was still working straight through dinner.
They’d already missed lunch.
Lauren had counted on eating once Kellen finished.
But dinner never came.
She went to check and found Kellen still laboring-mountains of clothes, stacks of dishes, the basement waiting for a deep clean, the rooftop sunroom still untouched, plus endless odd jobs.
Kellen had done many, but still had a lot left to do.
Seeing Lauren, Kellen’s expression was strained. “You should go back to your room and rest.”
“How much longer?” Lauren asked.
Kellen said, “The sunroom on the roof hasn’t been washed. The basement hasn’t been cleaned.”
“Why is there so much work today?” Lauren pressed.
Kellen didn’t answer.
Lauren’s face darkened.
Why else?
Aurelia was behind this. She was doing this on purpose.
