Dominic’s face darkened. “So when exactly are you planning to get this done?”
“I… I’ve been busy dealing with the whole media situation since yesterday…”
Jason’s voice trailed off, growing quieter as Dominic’s gaze bore into him–a cold, venomous look that made him feel like
prey.
Jason quickly backtracked. “The list is all ready. I’ll have the lawyers handle it right away.”
As he spoke, something occurred to him.
But with Aurelia standing there, he swallowed the rest of what he’d been about to say and hurried out of the office.
Aurelia wrenched herself out of Dominic’s grip. “Let go now, or
I won’t be nice about it.”
Dominic didn’t let go. Instead, he pulled her over to the sofa and pressed her down to sit.
“Today, you’re staying right here.”
Histone was harsh, laced with an undeniable command. 20:03

Aurelia twisted away, shaking off his hand from her shoulder.
Dominic felt a wave of irritation surge through him. Seeing how she rejected him, refusing to let him touch her at all, made his temple throb harder–the same spot she had injured earlier.
He turned away, walking to his desk chair and lighting a cigarette. He took a few irritated drags, trying to calm himself.
“The lawyers will return everything to you today. Maybe then you can stop the tantrum.”
Just thinking about Aurelia’s temper gave him a splitting
headache.
She used to be so sweet, so gentle.
Who knew she could be this much trouble when she was
worked up? She was practically tearing the world apart…
Aurelia looked at him coldly. “Throwing tantrums? That’s more Lauren’s thing.”
But Aurelia–she was always serious,
Hearing her icy tone, Dominic rubbed his aching temples.

into a river again, you’ll just say I’m being petty.”
Dominic was speechless.
Aurelia sneered. “Last night, Lauren was on the hospital rooftop–you spent a long time coaxing her down, didn’t you?”
The way she said “coaxing” made it sound particularly sarcastic.
Dominic’s breathing quickened.
Aurelia had clearly had enough of talking to him. She stood up and headed for the door.
But the office door was locked remotely!
Aurelia tried the handle several times, then turned back to glare at Dominic. “Open it!”
“Open what? Starting now, we’re staying together for 24
hours.”
Aurelia stared at him, her eyes narrowing.
Hearing 24 hours, her expression grew even colder.
“Forget about Grant, okay?” Dominic said, his voice tight.

something was going on between Aurelia and Grant.
Grant…
Of all Dominic’s friends, Grant was undeniably the most outstanding—mature, reserved, and deep.
He’d never shown any special interest in women before.
But now…
Grant had supported the divorce the night before last, picked up Aurelia right after Dominic left last night, and today, he spoke about her with such concern.
Eight months. Six months.
These timeframes swirled in Dominic’s mind, convincing him that Aurelia and Grant must have known each other long before.
Seeing that Dominic was convinced there was something between her and Grant, Aurelia let out a bitter laugh and didn’t bother explaining.
She just snorted. “24 hours? You sure about that?”
“What?”

bet you won’t last an hour before you run off!”

Dominic glared at her.
That mouth of hers!
Aurelia knew arguing with Dominic was pointless, like trying to reason with a donkey. She walked over to the sofa and sat down without another word.
Neither of them spoke after that.
Aurelia was confident that Dominic wouldn’t last an hour before running off to Lauren. There was no point in wasting
her breath.
The only sound in the office was Dominic, smoking in silence.
He couldn’t stand the tension any longer and glanced over at Aurelia, about to speak, when his eyes landed on her wrist. She was rubbing it absentmindedly.
Looking closer, he saw a ring of bruises around her pale wrist— clearly from where he had grabbed her earlier.
Dominic froze.
He quickly got up, found a first aid kit in a nearby cabinet, and knelt in front of her.
“Look at you,” he muttered, his voice unexpectedly soft. “I’m 5/7

your husband–why fight me so hard? You’re the one who ends up getting hurt.”
He opened the kit and pulled out a bottle of medicine.
Aurelia smiled coldly. “Maybe I used to be the only one getting
hurt, but now…”
Her cold fingers gently touched his swollen temple.
Dominic immediately hissed in pain, instinctively pulling back, landing on the floor. He glared at her angrily.
She was grinning with satisfaction.
“Now you don’t get off easy either. Especially today–look, it’s
all swollen…”
Dominic was speechless.
She was still gloating.
That headbutt had really done a number on his temple. From the look of it, she’d been aiming to do some serious damage.
Furious, Dominic applied the medicine to her wrist roughly, without an ounce of gentleness.
Aurelia winced in pain, yanked her hand back, and–slap–20:03

smacked him across the face with the back of her hand.
