Bound By A Broken Night novel Chapter 132

Chapter 132

“Where are you going? I thought we were going to discuss the business matters first.”

Zandrie’s brows drew together in confusion when, the moment they stepped out of the elevator, Cassie turned in the opposite direction from his office.

Cassie paused and looked back at him, a faint but unmistakably eager stnile curving her lips.

“I’ll just check if the CEO is in his office.”

Before he could say anything else, she turned and walked down the executive corridor with purposeful steps.

Zandrie watched her retreating figure, then let out a quiet chuckle, shaking his head in amusement.

“Well,” he muttered under his breath, “so much for business priorities.”

Zandrie headed straight toward his office.

Cassie, however, had other plans.

She walked with quiet purpose toward the executive reception area outside the CEO’s office.

“Good day,” she greeted one of the secretaries.

“Is CEO Pierce in his office?”

The secretary immediately straightened.

“Good day, Madame Greene. Yes, CEO Pierce is inside. He’s currently reviewing documents.”

There was a hint of curiosity in the woman’s eyes as she looked at Cassie-unexpected visits to the CEO without prior appointment were strictly prohibited, but she is not sure if it also applies to CEO Wallace’s wife, Madame Cassidy Greene.

Cassie gave a small nod.

“Well then,” she said calmly, though a trace of mischief flickered in her tone, “he’ll be preoccupied the entire afternoon and must not be disturbed.”

The secretary blinked in confusion as Cassie turned toward the CEO’s closed door.

“Madame Greene,” the secretary quickly added, “CEO Pierce has a scheduled meeting with CEO Wallace in thirty minutes.”

Cassie lifted her hand without turning back and gave a casual thumbs-up.

“Got it.”

Before anyone could stop her, she reached the door, turned the knob, and slipped inside. The soft but distinct click echoed through the spacious executive office.

Behind the massive wooden desk, Ashton looked up at the sound.

The imposing CEO-who had faced boardrooms, crises, and billion-dollar negotiations without hesitation-froze.

Cassie was walking toward him.

For a brief moment, he simply stared, as if unsure whether she was real.

“Cass…” he whispered, disbelief evident in his voice.

The Parker pen in his hand hovered motionless in midair, forgotten.

“Thirty minutes,” Cassie announced.

Before Ashton could even process her words, she walked around the desk, placed her hands on the armrests of his chair, and with a swift motion spun it to face her.

And then-to his complete shock-she settled herself on his lap.

“What-”

The word died halfway from his lips.

Ashton froze. Completely.

He didn’t move. Didn’t breathe. Didn’t even dare to react, as if one wrong motion might make her disappear.

It had been more than a week since they last saw each other. And the last time… they had parted badly.

He had accepted her anger. Accepted her distance. Accepted the possibility that she might never forgive him. He had told himself he would give her space-no matter how much it hurt.

If this was the end of whatever they once had… then he would endure it.

Just like he had endured everything else. Just like he had loved her all these years-Silently. From a distance. Without asking for anything in return.

But now…She was here. Sitting on his lap.

Close enough for him to feel her warmth. Close enough to hear her breathing.

Ashton blinked once. Then again. Slowly, he shook his head, as if trying to clear it. Because this—this had to be a hallucination.

There was no way Cassidy Greene would walk into his office… cross the distance between them… and sit on his lap like this.

His hands hovered awkwardly at his sides, unsure where to go, afraid to touch her and break whatever fragile illusion this was.

“Cass…” he said again, his voice lower this time, uncertain, almost careful.

“If this is a dream,” he murmured, his eyes searching her face, “don’t wake me up yet.”

“Silly.”

Ashton flinched when a light flick landed on his forehead.

Cassie’s face was suddenly inches from his-her brows drawn together, her eyes sharp with impatience.

“Get a grip, CEO Pierce,” she said. “You’re awake. This isn’t a dream.”

She leaned even closer, her breath warm against his skin, her lips brushing the corner of his.

“And I only have twenty-seven minutes before my husband arrives for your meeting.”

Despite it all, he didn’t move. Didn’t breathe. Didn’t even blink.

“Ashton Pierce!” she snapped, lightly tapping his cheek this time. The gentle slap finally snapped something back into place.

His eyes focused.

“Cassie…?” he whispered, disbelief still lingering in his voice.

“Yes, it’s me,” she said, pursing her lips as she leaned back slightly. Then she crossed her arms, a faint pout forming.

“And can you stop calling my name like you’re seeing a ghost?”

He stared at her for a long moment, still trying to process her presence.

“What are you doing here?” he finally asked, his voice cautious-cateful.

Then, more quietly, almost like a child afraid of the answer, he continued.

“You’re… not angry at me anymore?”

Cassie watched him closely.

The powerful, intimidating Ashton Pierce-the man who could bring down corporations and dismantle families without blinking-was now looking at her with uncertainty in his eyes.

Careful. Vulnerable. Almost afraid. And for a moment, her heart softened.

She had never imagined that the man everyone feared… could look this adorably unsure.

The corner of her lips curved, her gaze warming as she reached up and touched his collar, straightening it slowly.

“You really thought I came all the way here just to stay angry at you?” she murmured. Then her eyes lifted to meet his.
