Chapter 168
“Ashton help ”
Maricris turned pleading eyes toward him, her voice trembling as fear and pain clawed through her throat Her fingers twitched weakly against Cassie’s wrist, as though hoping Ashton’s presence alone could make the nightmare stop.
But the moment she called his name, Cassie’s grip only tightened. Her nails dug deeper into Maricris’s cheek
“Ahhh!”
The scream tore through the lobby, sharp and raw. A thin trail of blood slid down Maricris’s face, staining her trembling fingers as she tried uselessly to pry Cassie’s hand away.
Cassie didn’t even blink. Her expression remained eerily calm–too calm–while fury burned in the depths of her dark eyes.
“That woman is crazy, CEO Pierce!” Tanya cried out in panic as she struggled to sit up, her voice shaking with desperation.
“Please help Cris! Her face is bleeding- that bitch is ruining her face!”
Her glare shot daggers toward Cassie, but there was more fear in it than anger now.
Ashton didn’t answer. He simply stood there, unmoving. His gaze rested on Cassie. She looked… different.
Her dark eyes were fixed on Maricris with a chilling intensity, the fury in them so consuming it was almost frightening. It was as if the world around her had ceased to exist.
Just her and the woman beneath her hand.
Cassie looked detached from everything… swallowed whole by her rage.
And Ashton didn’t dare interrupt.
“Papa…”
The small voice tugged at him.
Ashton lowered his gaze.
Kai stood beside him, his tiny brows furrowed in confusion. The little boy lifted his small hand toward Ashton
“What happened, buddy?” Ashton asked quietly, crouching slightly to look at him.
Kai held up his hand like evidence.

“They gave me ouchie, Papa.”
For a second–Everything stopped.
Ashton’s eyes landed on the small reddened mark on Kai’s skin,
And the air around him turned cold.
The warmth vanished from his expression, replaced by something far darker.
His jaw tightened. His eyes slowly lifted again–This time no longer watching Cassie.
But Maricris.
“You hurt my son?”
Ashton’s voice thundered through the lobby, deep and lethal, the sheer force of it making the air seem to tremble. Conversations died instantly. Even the distant footsteps of bystanders halted as his fury rippled across the room.
His gaze locked onto Maricris. Razor–sharp.
Maricris felt it like a blade pressed against her throat.
“Ashton…” she stammered, panic flooding her face as her eyes darted between him and Cassie.
“I–I didn’t-”
Her words abruptly died in her throat.
Cassie’s nails dug deeper.
“Urgh-!”
Maricris’s body trembled violently as pain flared across her face. The sharp sting forced a broken whimper past her lips, her hands instinctively rising to push Cassie away–but she couldn’t find the courage to touch her.
Cassie looked terrifying.
Her eyes were dark… empty of restraint… burning with a cold fury that made Maricris’s heart pound wildly in her chest.
“Please…” Maricris whispered weakly, her voice cracking under the pressure of fear and pain. “S–stop…”
But Cassie didn’t stop. If anything, her grip tightened.
A thin line of blood trailed down Maricris’s cheek as Cassie leaned closer, her grip unrelenting, her gaze utterly merciless.
“No one touches Kai Pierce…” Cassie muttered through clenched teeth, each word trembling with a fury she could barely contain. Her nails pressed deeper, drawing another pained whimper from Maricris

and thinks they can simply beg for mercy afterward.”
Her lips curled faintly, but there was no trace of humor in it.
“There will be no mercy.”
Across from them, Ashton slowly straightened to his full height.
The shift was subtle–but the air in the lobby seemed to grow heavier the moment he did. His jaw tightened, a muscle ticking sharply along his cheek. His eyes never left Maricris.
“Answer me,” he said.
“What did you do to my son?”
Maricris’s lips trembled.
“I–it was an accident-”
“Accident?” Cassie repeated, the word dripping with icy mockery.
Her nails pressed harder.
“AHH-“”
Maricris screamed again as the sting intensified, tears spilling down her face.
Tanya, still sprawled on the floor, froze in terror. She tried to push herself up, but the searing pain in her gut made her collapse back with a gasp. Her hands clutched her abdomen as fear flooded her chest.
Cassidy looked ready to tear Maricris apart with her bare hands. And Ashton Pierce looked like he might actually let her.
“You dare touch my son…” Cassie murmured, her voice low and eerily calm, yet trembling with a rage she was barely holding back.
The words carried more weight than the pain digging into Maricris’s skin. Despite the sting on her face, Maricris suddenly froze.
Her eyes widened.
“Son…?” she breathed, the word barely escaping her lips.
Confusion, disbelief, and a creeping dread filled her gaze as she stared at Cassie–then slowly lifted her eyes toward Ashton.
For a moment, the lobby seemed to fall into suffocating silence.
Cassie did not answer. Instead, Ashton stepped forward and stopped beside her.
His presence was commanding, the cold authority around him making the air feel heavier with every second
Chopterios
“Flesh and blood.” His voice cut through the silence like a blade.
“Cassidy is my son’s mother.”
The declaration landed like thunder.
Tanya and Maricris stared at them as if the world had just tilted off its axis. Their faces drained of color
Shock spread across their expressions, horror quickly following behind it as the realization sank in.
“No…” Tanya whispered hoarsely.
Maricris shook her head weakly, her voice trembling in denial.
“No… that’s not–true”
The two women looked at each other, then back at the couple standing before them. Their disbelief turned into pure fear. Because everything suddenly made sense.
