Chapter 178

“Just because you’re CEO Ashton Pierce’s woman, you think you can parade your infidelity around at a respectable event like this?”
She folded her arms, looking Cassie up and down with obvious contempt.
“A married woman openly coveting another man while her husband was busy… honestly, it’s simply disgusting.”
The women beside her murmured in agreement, their expressions full of smug satisfaction.
Secretary Minerva’s eyes narrowed as he studied Cassie more closely, piecing together the situation from the accusations being thrown around her.
The atmosphere had grown noticeably tense.
If such a scandal truly erupted at an event hosted by Malakai Group, it could easily become an unnecessary spectacle–one that might stain the company’s carefully maintained reputation.
After a brief pause, the secretary made his decision.
“Escort the madame out of the venue,” he instructed firmly to the staff nearby.
His voice carried quiet authority.
“We do not wish for any disturbance that her… charade might provoke.”
Cassie stared at Secretary Minerva, a flicker of incredulity passing through her eyes.
For a moment, it seemed as though she might say something–might challenge the order that had just been given so casually. But she didn’t.
Instead, she simply held the secretary’s gaze, her expression composed, almost eerily calm despite the humiliation they were clearly trying to impose on her.
“Let’s see if anyone comes to save you now, Madame,” Roel scoffed, his face brimming with triumph as he cast her a mocking look.
“Who would save whom?”
The curious voice came from directly behind Cassidy.
The tone was calm, almost conversational–but the effect was immediate.
Secretary Minerva straightened abruptly, his posture becoming rigid.
Everyone else instinctively turned toward the newcomer, noticing the sudden tension in the secretary’s
demeanor.
A tall man had just stepped into the group, accompanied by several assistants.

“Director Russ–you’ve arrived,” Secretary Minerva said quickly, stepping forward. The confident authority he had shown moments ago was now replaced with something far more cautious.
“I was just handling a party crasher,” he added hastily, offering an uneasy smile.
“Director Russ?” Roel Danes leaned slightly toward the secretary, whispering near his ear.
“My boss’s boss,” Warren Minerva murmured under his breath.
The moment the man’s identity was confirmed, Roel Danes and the others exchanged quick, meaningful glances.
This was not just another executive. This was someone far above them in Malakai Group’s hierarchy.
Almost instantly, they straightened their backs and adjusted their posture, their earlier arrogance replaced with eager respect.
Roel was the first to move.
“Welcome to Bay City, Director Russ,” he said smoothly as he stepped forward, extending his hand. “Roel Danes, President of Danes Enterprise.”
“Thank you, President Danes,” Director Russ replied politely.
He accepted the handshake out of courtesy–but only briefly.
Almost immediately, he released Roel’s hand and turned his attention back to Secretary Minerva, as though the introduction had already served its purpose.
The quick dismissal caught Roel slightly off guard.
Because of the director’s sudden shift of attention, he never even had the chance to introduce the other men standing beside him.
“What party crasher are you referring to, Secretary Minerva?” Director Russ asked casually, his tone calm but carrying quiet authority.
“There she is, Director Russ,” the secretary quickly replied, eager to justify himself.
“I asked for her invitation, but she was unable to provide one.” He pointed toward Cassie, who stood only
a few feet to the director’s side.
Director Russ followed the direction of the gesture, though his expression remained composed.
“She could very well be the guest of one of Malakai’s invited guests, Secretary Minerva,” he said thoughtfully.
“There’s no need to be so hasty.”
As he spoke, he slowly turned toward the woman being accused.
Cassie met his gaze.
