“She’s the party crasher you’re referring to?” Director Russ asked after a moment, turning his gaze back to the secretary with a narrowed look.

“Yes, Director Russ,” Secretary Minerva said quickly, nodding.

Before anything else could be said, Mirriam suddenly stepped forward.

“She’s actually my half–sister, Director Russ,” she said, lowering her eyes with a carefully crafted expression of embarrassment and regret.

“But my father and I cannot support her actions.” She sighed softly, as though ashamed.

“She shamelessly entangled herself with another man despite already being married. And tonight she appears here as if her scandal doesn’t even exist.”

Roel Danes quickly joined in.

“Yes, Director Russ,” he said gravely, adopting the tone of a concerned elder.

“She openly betrayed her husband and continues to behave without shame. I believe someone like her has no place in such a respectable gathering organized by Malakai Group.”

Maricris stepped forward as well, her expression full of exaggerated concern.

“She should be escorted out, Director Russ,” she insisted.

The director did not respond immediately.

Instead, his gaze slowly moved across the small crowd surrounding him–Roel Danes, Red Knowles, Vincent Rouy, Edward Shen, the young women standing beside them.

Each of them looked back at him expectantly. Then his gaze returned to Cassie. Once again, their eyes

met.

For a brief moment, the hall fell into a heavy silence.

“You all think so?” Director Russ finally asked.

“Yes, Director,” Roel Danes answered immediately, his voice the loudest among them.

The others quickly nodded in agreement, their faces filled with anticipation as they waited for the

director’s final decision.

Director Russ quietly observed the group before him.

One by one, he had watched them speak–each face wearing the same eager anticipation.

“Malakai Group does not involve itself in matters that do not directly concern the company,” Director Russ said evenly, his voice calm yet firm.

The words immediately dampened the triumphant expressions on several faces.

“But it does concern the reputation of Malakai Group, Director,” Vincent Rouy interjected quickly, clearly unwilling to let the matter drop.

The protest drew the director’s attention. He turned his head slightly, his eyes settling on Vincent with quiet curiosity.

“In what way?” he asked, sounding genuinely interested.

Roel Danes stepped forward almost immediately, clearly eager to take control of the explanation. “She has been involved with CEO Ashton Pierce,” he said earnestly, gesturing subtly toward Cassie.

“The same Ashton Pierce who was recently appointed as the CEO of Greene Corporation by the Chairman of Malakai Group.‘

“CEO Ashton Pierce…” Director Russ repeated slowly, as though searching through his memory for the

name.

Edward Shen quickly joined the conversation.

“The scandal of their affair has already spread throughout Bay City, Director Russ” he said gravely.

“And now that Greene Corporation has been newly acquired under Malakai’s umbrella, having it led by such a shameless man could easily damage the reputation of the entire group.”

Vincent Rouy nodded in agreement, while the others murmured their support.

Roel took the opportunity to push the matter further.

“The chairman of Malakai Group must be made aware of this alarming situation,” he said, his voice tightening with feigned concern.

“It seems he has placed far too much trust in CEO Pierce.”

Director Russ watched him carefully, his expression unreadable.

“CEO Ashton Pierce does not deserve to lead one of the companies under Malakai Group,” Roel continued, clenching his jaw for emphasis.

“He has betrayed not only the founding family of what was once the Knowles Corporation, but also CEO Wallace himself.”

He cast a pointed glance at Cassie.

“After all, he is involved with CEO Wallace’s wife.”
