Roel Danes‘ smile widened immediately.

“If you could arrange that for us, Director, we would be extremely grateful,” he said smoothly

“There should be someone who informs the chairman that the man he appointed to lead one of his companies carries such a questionable reputation,” Vincent Rouy added, his jaw tightening as if the injustice personally offended him.

Director Russ tilted his head slightly

“So what you’re proposing,” he said slowly, “is to convince the chairman to remove CEO Ashton Pierce…. because of his alleged affair with CEO Wallace’s wife.”

His gaze briefly settled on Miriam before shifting back to Roel and the others.

“Yes, Director,” Roel replied eagerly, nodding.

“And

you all believe,” Director Russ continued, a faint trace of bewilderment entering his tone, “that speaking to the chairman personally will resolve this situation?”

“Yes, Director Russ,” Roel answered confidently. “With the chairman’s brilliance, he will surely handle the matter properly. But naturally… he must first know the truth.”

His smile grew even brighter, clearly believing he had successfully persuaded the director.

Director Russ stared at him for a long time. The silence stretched longer than anyone expected.

Under his steady gaze, Roel’s confidence began to falter ever so slightly. Even the others shifted uneasily, unsure what the director was thinking.

His face remained perfectly stoic. Which only made the tension heavier. No one dared speak.

The sharp click of the director’s tongue broke the silence. He shook his head slowly, looking almost

baffled

“You all want to meet the chairman?” he repeated, his tone suddenly tinged with faint amusement.

The change in his demeanor left the group confused.

“Well then,” he said casually, “you will be meeting her very soon.”

An ominous smile slowly formed on his lips, waiting for someone to notice the context what he just said.

For the briefest moment, his gaze flickered toward Cassie–so quickly that most of them missed it- before returning to Roel Danes.

But no one appeared to resemble the powerful, elusive chairman they had imagined.

After a moment, Director Russ let out a soft breath, the faintest hint of amusement lingering on his face.

“Well,” he said lightly, “I’m afraid I’ll have to excuse myself for a while.”

Their attention immediately returned to him.

“The chairman has entrusted me with several errands tonight,” he continued, his smile polite yet

strangely restrained.

“And I must make sure they are completed.”

He paused briefly, as if recalling something particularly important.

“One of those tasks,” he added, the amusement in his voice barely contained now, “is to make sure I personally accompany my brother’s wife… while he is still occupied with a few last–minute matters assigned by the chairman.”

Confusion immediately spread across the faces surrounding him. Roel Danes frowned. Mirriam blinked in bewilderment.

Even Secretary Minerva looked slightly puzzled.

Brother’s wife?

Before anyone could process the statement, Director Russ turned slightly.

“Sister,” he said warmly, extending his hand in a courteous gesture, “allow me the honor of escorting you for a while.”

For a moment, no one moved.

Their mouths slightly open. Their eyes wide with shock. Because the woman they had just tried to have thrown out of the event…Had just been personally escorted away by one of Malakai Group’s directors, and even been called sister.
