Across the hall, Red Knowles and Mirriam exchanged stunned looks. Both of them stared at Cassidy with disbelief.
They could hardly believe she had the audacity to place herself at the center of Malakar Group’s most significant announcement in Bay City.
“And she’s even being given the spotlight?” Tanya Shen exclaimed under her breath, though her voice carried clearly enough for those
to hear. The disdain in her tone was impossible to miss.

“A lowly maid like you doesn’t belong up there,” she said mockingly.
“Why don’t you come down and start collecting the empty glasses? At least then you’d finally serve a purpose.”
“How dare you!”
Several of the Malakai executives suddenly stepped forward in anger, their expressions dark as their eyes locked onto Maricris and the others who had insulted Cassidy.
The shift in the atmosphere was immediate-and frightening. But just as the tension threatened to erupt-
Cassidy lifted a single finger.
The movement was simple. Yet it was enough to stop them. Every executive halted instantly. Even Ashton stared at her in surprise.
The authority behind that small gesture was staggering. No one could believe that such silent command had come from the same woman who had been mocked and ridiculed moments earlier.
The entire venue fell silent. Breaths were held.
Cassidy slowly swept her gaze across the group standing below the stage.
She started with Maricris.
Then Tanya.
Edward.
Vincent.
Mirriam.
Red.
And finally
Roel Danes.
The man who had been the most vocal in his attempts to humiliate her.
“This momentous occasion for Bay City,” Cassidy said calmly, her voice steady and clear, “deserves to be honored by the chairman of the Malakai Group.”
Her gaze remained on them.
“And as far as I understand,” she continued, “all of you are quite eager to meet the chairman.”
A faint smile curved her lips as she looked directly at Roel.
“Isn’t that correct?”
Roel’s expression stiffened.
“For years,” Cassidy went on, “the chairman had no intention of revealing herself Malakai hosted ”
no matter how grand the celebration
She turned her gaze toward Mirriam, Tanya, and Maricris, her calin expression laced with quiet amusement

“She is willing to appear publicly,” Cassidy continued, “simply to hear your concerns regarding Malakai’s reputation.” Her eyes moved from one face to another.
“You wished for the chairsan to learn about the scandalous affair between CEO Ashton Pierce and myself.” A soft smile touched her lips.
“You wanted her to take action.”
The hall was so silent that even the faintest whisper could be heard.
Cassidy calmly slipped her arm through Ashton’s.
“Very well,” she said sweetly.
“She will indulge all of you.”
Confusion spread like wildfire across the hall.
“I asked myself earlier,” Cassidy continued lightly, “and she graciously gave me permission to have an affair with CEO Pierce.”
The Malakai executives on stage suddenly chuckled, clearly amused. The guests below, however, were utterly baffled.
“What?”
“What does she mean?”
A new wave of whispers erupted throughout the venue.
Then
Jefferson Holt stepped forward, laughter rumbling from his chest.
“She means,” he announced loudly, a chuckle still lingering in his voice, “that the chairman of the Malakai Group-the very person all of you have been so eager to meet is standing right in front of you.”
He gestured openly toward Cassidy.
“The same woman you have spent the entire evening ridiculing,” he continued, amusement glinting in his
eyes.
“And you should consider yourselves fortunate… she has been remarkably indulgent with your little charade tonight.”
Gasps erupted across the hall.
Zandrie Wallace stepped beside him, a triumphant smirk playing on his lips as he looked down at Roel and his companions whose faces had turned deathly pale.
“Allow me to formally introduce her” Zandrie declared.
“Chairman Cassidy Greene of the Malakai Group of Companies the brilliant brain of more than a dozen subsidiaries across the globe”
He paused deliberately, letting the shock sink into the stunned crowd.
“And tonight,” he added, his voice laced with unmistakable satisfaction, “for the sake of your troubled peace of mind Chairman Greene has graciously granted herself permission to have an affair with CEO Ashton Pierce.
The ball plunged into stunned silence.
Roel Danes and Dis little circle stood frozen in place speechless, the sung arrogance crumbling as the truth shack them like a thunderclap.
“Thus this cannot be,” Miriam inuttered, shaking her head vigorously as if trying to reject the really unfolding betere her

Her voice rose with despera
turned toward Zandrie Wallace.
“Why are you playing along with Cassidy charade?” she demanded, almost pleading,
“You are her husband”
A quiet scoff came from one of the executives standing onstage.
“We hardly have the luxury to indulge in anyone’s charade, Miss,” he replied mockingly. “Malakal’s schedule alone would exhaust most people ”
Zandrie’s lips curved into a faint, almost pitying smile as he looked at Mirriam.
“Isn’t it still obvious, Miss Knowles?” he asked calmly. His gaze sharpened slightly,
“Or are you simply pretending not to understand… just to comfort yourself?” & low scoff escaped him.
Jefferson Holt stepped forward again, clearly amused by the stunned disbelief spreading across the hall.
“Still having trouble believing it?” he chimed in lightly.
He glanced around the crowd before returning his gaze to Mirriam and the others.
*Then wait until tomorrow.” A knowing smirk formed on his lips.
“You’ll soon see how Chairman Cassidy Greene rules the business world of Bay City,” His expression turned thoughtful for a
moment
“She is the most compassionate leader many of us have ever known,” Jefferson continued.
“But to those who choose to stand against her…”
The smirk returned, darker this time.
“She is also the most lethal.”
