Bound By A Broken Night novel Chapter 203

Chapter 203

“With due respect, gentlemen I know exactly what I walked into.” Cassie’s voice cut cleanly through the quiet exchange among the Petrov men.

Holding herself steady took effort. Her pulse was loud, insistent, but none of it reached her voice. She kept it firm. Controlled.

The room’s attention shifted to her at once. For a second, she almost wished she had stayed silent. But that option was gone. There was no stepping back-not here, not in front of men like these.

“I’m also aware that by now, you’ve already gone through my background. My history. Everything that can be found.” She met their gazes, one by one, refusing to look away.

A brief pause. Then she continued.

“But as I told CEO Vasili Wright earlier, I’m not here to defend myself-or Malakai Group.”

Her fingers pressed lightly against the table, grounding herself.

“I know where I stand. I take responsibility for it.” Her voice didn’t rise. It didn’t waver.

“And I understand that, at this point, the decision is yours.” Cassie held their eyes, steady now.

“I’m here to hear your terms and accept them.”

She finished speaking and waited. But nothing came. No acknowledgment. No immediate response. They just stared at her.

As if she had crossed a line she couldn’t see.

The silence stretched, thick and deliberate. With each passing second, it pressed harder, closing in on her, on Zandrie. The weight of their attention felt physical-tightening the space, making every breath slower, heavier.

Cassie held still. Not because she was steady-but because she didn’t trust herself to speak again.

“Such a brave woman.

“}

Carl clicked his tongue, shaking his head slightly as he muttered the words.

Cassie looked at him, uncertain. There was no clear approval in his tone. No clear insult either. That made it worse.

“I hope you understand what happens to those who betray the Petrovs.’

Samuel spoke next, a faint smirk on his lips.

“Even death,” he added, almost casually, “can be considered a reward.”

The words landed without force-but they didn’t need it.

Cassie felt it immediately. So did Zandrie. They exchanged a quick terrified look, both swallowing hard.

Fear settled in, quiet but firm. For the first time since she chose to speak, Cassie found herself with nothing left to say.

The silence held-then broke. The door swung open without warning.

A man walked in as if permission didn’t apply to him.

Every head turned. The shift in attention was immediate and so were the reactions.

“What a surprise,” Denver said, leaning back slightly.

“Didn’t expect to see you in Cape City again, Hawk.”

“Long time no see,” Samuel added, a trace of mockery in his voice.

“What made you leave your territory?”

Carl let out a quiet chuckle “Still haven’t found your girl? Expanding the search now?”

“Or did you get tired of chasing commercial flights for a ‘chance encounter’ with her? Stephen followed, just as amused.

“Give us a name,” Carl continued, a glint of anusement on his lips. “We’ll find her for you.”

“We have the best people for that,” Denver added. “It won’t take long to find the love of your life.”

“End your search, its been six years” Stephen scoffed, shaking his head. “She’s right at your fingertips. Why leave it to fate?”

The man stopped, his expression unchanged-clearly unimpressed.

“Fuck you,” he said flatly, irritation clear, before taking a seat beside Denver like he belonged there.

Cassie and Zandrie watched the exchange unfold, caught off guard. The shift from controlled tension to something almost chaotic left them momentarily speechless.
