Chapter 217
“What did he say Hawk?
“Who is Hawk?”
“Is he the mastermind?”
A ripple of hushed voices spread across the room, each whisper feeding the next. Speculation rose quickly, but there was nothing to grasp-only silence and the weight of anticipation.
“Hawk?” Ashton’s gaze sharpened as it fell on Director Belsky and Director Lukin, his expression tightening with controlled
suspicion.
“Yes-he goes by the name Hawk,” Director Belsky rushed out, his composure cracking.
“He orchestrated everything. We were only following orders. Please, CEO Wright, you have to believe us. Hawk is behind all of this. We had no choice we were powerless to defy him. He threatened to kill us if we so much as spoke a word to you… or to anyone from the Petrov family.”
His voice trembled by the end, the desperation unmistakable.
Vasili said nothing at first. He simply watched them-studied them-as if peeling back every layer of their panic to find the truth beneath. Then, slowly, he leaned forward, closing the distance between them.
“You know the price of lying to me, Directors,” he murmured, his voice low and measured, meant only for their ears. The quiet threat in his tone carried far more weight than any raised voice.
The two men froze.
For a fleeting moment, the resolve they had clung to, shattered. Fear seeped through their widened eyes and rigid posture. Vasili leaned back again, unhurried, as though he had all the time in the world. He adjusted himself comfortably in his chair, his calm demeanor returning as if nothing had happened.
“Tell me,” he said casually, his voice now carrying just enough to reach the room, “who exactly is this man who calls himself Hawk?”
A brief pause followed.
“As far as I recall,” Vasili continued with a faint shrug, “there is no one operating under that name within the Petrov command.”
His words were deliberate-clear, controlled, and unmistakably public.
J
And as the media captured every second, every expression, every carefully chosen word, the tension in the room thickened.
“Everyone, out,” Vasili said casually.
There was no need to raise his voice but the effect was immediate.
Thr room that had once been thick with voices dissolved into hurried footsteps. No one dared question the order. One by one, they filed out-quick, obedient, eager to put distance between themselves and whatever was about to unfold.
All except one. Roel Danes lingered.
His gaze remained fixed on the two directors still kneeling on the floor-the same men he had once regarded as his stepping stones, his gateway to power. Now, they looked pitiful. Broken. Reduced to nothing under the weight of Vasili Wright and Ashton Pierce’s presence.
Confusion crept into his expression.

His eyes flicked toward Cassidy Greene, expecting her to move along with the others. But she didn’t. She stood exactly where she was, composed and unmoving, as if she had every right to remain.
Why is she still here? The question hagged at him, but he didn’t dare voice it. Not when the atmosphere had shifted so drastically. Not when the air itself felt suffocating.
Roel hesitated a second too long.
A security guard stationed by the door turned toward him, his expression hard, his stare sharp enough to cut through any remaining courage. It was not a warning spoken aloud-but it didn’t need to be.
Roel swallowed.
Whatever curiosity or ambition had rooted him in place quickly gave way to survival instinct. Without another glance, he turned and followed the others out.
Silence settled.
Cassie watched it all unfold, her eyes trailing after the last of them-until they met one pair that lingered just a moment longer.
Red Knowles.
