Chapter 46
A feverish heat swept through my body as fervent, demanding kisses claimed my half–parted lips as a familiar figure hovered above me. I could feel his weight pinning me.
Those kisses stole my breath, left me dizzy–overwhelmed yet aching for more, as though my body already understood this language long before my mind could grasp its meaning.
“Ahh…”
The sound slipped from me unbidden, soft and fractured, startling in its raw honesty. I had never known a sensation like this–so consuming, so relentless–yet it felt impossibly familiar, like a memory buried deep beneath my skin, long forgotten and suddenly awakened.
“Cassidy…”
My body went rigid at the sound of my name, growled low and dark, the syllables thick with something dangerous. Heat flooded me instantly, curling tight in my chest before spreading downward, until it felt as though something inside me was burning—without a name.
“Ahh…” Another moan tore from my lips, sharper this time, broken by pleasure as my body arched instinctively into the warmth of a firm palm against my fevered skin.
I wasn’t thinking anymore. I wasn’t choosing. My body moved of its own accord, responding as though it had always known exactly what to do.
“You are beautiful, Cassidy…”
The guttural whisper sent shivers racing down my spine, heavy with desire. It unraveled me far more than the touch itself ever could.
It was followed by lingering, unhurried kisses–warm, insistent–tracing along my skin with deliberate intent. Every inch of me came alive beneath that attention, my senses unraveling one by one, surrendering without resistance.
Each slow pass sent ripples of sensation through me, pleasure blooming and spreading–I was drowning in it, willingly, breathlessly, lost.
“Watch me claim you, Cassidy.”
The words sounded like a command–and my body obeyed.
My eyes fluttered open, and I froze.
A pair of dark, desire–laden eyes met mine. Familiar. Unmistakable.
“Ashton…”
My voice came out wrong too soft, too broken–as my eyes slid shut again, my body reacting before shock could settle in. His presence was overwhelming, his closeness devastating, as sensations I had never known–but somehow recognized–washed over me.

“Aahh… what are you doing… Ashton?” I wasn’t even sure I had spoken aloud, or if it was only my mind screaming in futile protest.
I couldn’t breathe properly. The intensity of it stole all sense, leaving only raw sensation behind./ “Shit-”
I gasped for air, fingers curling tightly into the sheets as my body shuddered, every nerve ending alight beneath the relentless wave of pleasure coursing through me.
“Cassidy…”
“Ashton… this is wrong.”
The words felt weak even to my own ears.
Why was Ashton here? Why was he with me like this so close, so intimate, unraveling me in ways no one ever had? My mind screamed in protest, scrambling for reason, for control, but my body betrayed me completely.
“Stop… please… this is wrong,” I managed, my voice breaking.
But his only answer was the relentless attention of his lips against the part of my body that no had ever seen, more so touched. Between my legs.
The way he scoured my wet folds stole my breath, sending pleasure spiraling through me until thought became impossible. Every deliberate movement of his tongue unraveled me further, and his lips striking a place so deliciously sensitive shattered whatever fragile control I had left.
“Oh…shit…”
My legs parted instinctively, my body betraying me as a violent shudder tore through my frame, pleasure assaulting in waves.
“Ahh…”
The sound slipped free as my body contradicted every protest, arching, responding, surrendering completely. Sanity dissolved, slipping further away.
“Oh God… so good…”
The words barely sounded like my own, lost to the haze as sensation consumed me whole.
“You like this, Cassie?” He asked, his hot breath against my wetness.
“Yes!” The admission horrified me even as it escaped my lips.
I arched helplessly, fingers tangling in his hair–whether to pull him away or guide him closer, I no longer knew. I no longer cared.
My body burned, heat spiraling tighter and tighter, the intensity cresting into something frightening something I could no longer control. And that was what terrified me most of all.

My body was betraying me- yet I didn’t feel betrayed.
I felt free.
For the first time, there was no shame coiled around the desire coursing through me, no fear clawing at the edges of my want. I let go of reason, or perhaps I simply refused to be sane in this moment. Whatever this was–reckless, forbidden, unreal–I chose it.
For once in my life, I would not only be good at surviving, at building walls and fortunes and distance. For once, I would claim the man my heart had never learned how to forget.
“Claim me, Ashton,” I whispered, the words breaking apart between shallow breaths.
He stilled.
The sudden pause sent a tremor of anticipation through me. Our gazes locked, his eyes dark and heavy with desire, pulling me toward the abyss of everything I was about to surrender. He didn’t move—just watched me, as if committing this moment to memory.
“Please,” I begged, the word stripped bare of pride.
Something shifted in his expression.
He leaned in slowly, reverently, pressing a feather–light kiss against the pit of stomach–so gentle it made me shudder more than anything rougher ever could.
His lips wandered from one place to another, unhurried, deliberate, as though he were worshipping every inch of skin he touched, as though I were something precious instead of reckless.
