Chapter 47
When his mouth reached my neck, I gasped, fingers curling into the sheets as he covered me with lingering, insistent kisses.
Then his lips found mine.
The kiss was hungry, consuming, his mouth claiming mine as if he intended to leave no doubt of his presence. I moaned helplessly when he drew my breath away, when his hands explored with purpose and familiarity that made my pulse race.
“Ahh…”
“Can you feel me, Cassidy?” he murmured, his voice rough as he pressed closer.
I could. I felt him–his heat, his nearness, the undeniable proof of his want. It left me breathless, overwhelmed.
“Watch as I claim you, Cassidy Knowles.”
He lifted my chin, guiding my gaze downward between us. The sight alone made my cheeks burn, my heart pounding wildly. The intimacy of it—how naturally we fit, how right it felt–made something inside me loosen completely.
Like we belonged to each other.
Like he belonged to me.
“Watch, Cassie,” he said softly, insistently.
I did.
The moment he slipped inside me, sensation crashed over me all at once–sharp, overwhelming, stealing the breath from my lungs.
“Argh!” I cried out, my body stiffening instinctively, caught between pain and something far more dangerous.
“Look at me, Cassie.”
His voice cut through the haze, grounding me. I obeyed, forcing my eyes open to meet his intense gaze, even as the feeling inside me threatened to split me apart.
“I’m here,” he murmured, pressing closer, deeper into the moment. “With you.”
“Ashton-“I gasped, the sound torn from me as I bit my lip, eyes squeezing shut again.
“Look at me,
Cassidy.”
His breath was ragged now, his grip firm but steady, anchoring me. I forced myself to meet his eyes once more, enduring the overwhelming sensation, the strange mix of ache and heat that left me trembling.

“Look at how I’ve claimed you,” he said, the words low, possessive, reverent.
The movement that followed stole my breath completely. I cried out again, my body reacting before my mind could catch up–not just from the intensity, but from the unexpected pleasure blooming beneath it.
“Ahh-”
My whole body arched, caught between fear and surrender, as sensation surged through me in waves I could no longer fight.
And somewhere between the ache and the heat, between his gaze and my surrender, I realized I was no longer afraid.
I embraced every overwhelming sensation until nothing else existed–until the room was filled with nothing but our broken breaths and lewd sounds.
Despite the way my body burned beneath him, despite how close I felt to losing myself completely, I refused to close my eyes.
I watched him.
I watched the way his features tightened, the way desire stripped him of composure, the way his control fractured as thoroughly as mine had. There was something terrifying and intoxicating about seeing myself reflected in his want.
Then it happened.
Something shifted deep within me–low, coiled, inevitable. I felt it gathering at the pit of my stomach, spreading outward, swallowing me whole. The sensation was unfamiliar, overwhelming, dragging me toward a height I had never known.
“Ashton!”
Fear pierced through the haze. The intensity was too much, too vast–I was suddenly afraid of where it would take me, of what part of myself I would lose if I crossed that threshold.
“Let it go, Cassidy,” he urged, his breath uneven, his voice hoarse and strained. “Give me everything you have.”
“Ashton-!”
My body betrayed me completely, trembling uncontrollably as I clung to him like an anchor. The sounds of us–filled the space around us as I finally surrendered, reason dissolving beneath
sensation.
“You’re mine, Cassidy,” he breathed, the words torn from him–And then everything exploded.
Light. Heat. A blinding rush like fireworks bursting behind my eyes, shattering and reforming all at once.

“Hah-!”
I jolted upright in bed.
My breath came fast and ragged, my chest heaving as if I’d been running for miles. My hands flew to my pounding heart as darkness greeted me—thick, silent, unmistakably real.
My hotel room.
Empty.
Cold.
My mind reeled, spinning wildly between disbelief and dread.
“A dream,” I whispered hoarsely, my skin slick with cold sweat as I scanned the familiar shapes around me. The bed. The curtains. The dim glow of the city beyond the window.
No Ashton.
“Shit.”
My fingers shook as I dragged them through my hair, my pulse refusing to slow.
“Why?” I muttered, pressing my palm to my face, shaken to the core.
The images refused to fade. They replayed relentlessly behind my eyes–too vivid, too detailed, too real. Even my body still felt raw, and I could still feel him inside me.
“Cassidy… what is happening to you?”
What frightened me most wasn’t the dream itself. It was how familiar it had felt.
So familiar it twisted something deep in my chest, like a half–buried memory clawing its way toward the surface–a fractured night, a broken moment I could never quite remember, no matter
how hard I tried.
“Cassidy “I groaned, frustration ripping through me as I fisted my hands in my hair.
One meeting.
Just one encounter with Ashton, and my mind had betrayed me like this.
All these years—why now?
Why was he haunting me even in my sleep?
And why did it feel less like a dream, and more like something I had already lived once before?
