Early the next morning, Willa was violently pulled from her sleep by the buzzing of her phone.
She reached over and squinted at the glowing screen.
*[Ms. Vance, are you available for a call?]*
It was Julian York.
Willa tossed the phone back onto the nightstand, closing her eyes to collect herself for a few seconds before slipping quietly out of bed.
Hearing the movement, Arthur peeked out from the kitchen. "Why are you up so early? Nolan is still asleep."
"I have a few things to handle." Willa walked into the bathroom to wash up, answering casually. "Dad, I'm going downstairs for a bit. I'll be right back."
"You're not having breakfast?"
"I'll eat when I get back."
The moment Willa swung her front door open, she froze dead in her tracks.
A small mountain of insulated delivery bags was lined up perfectly across her welcome mat.
Staring at the absurd feast barricading her exit, her eye twitched involuntarily.
"Willa?" Arthur called from behind her.
"Who... who left all this here?" He walked over, crouching down to inspect the bags with a deeply bewildered expression. "This is enough to feed an army. We could never finish all this."
Willa pulled out her phone, snapped a picture, and sent it directly to Randal.
*[Is Mr. Yates about to be unemployed? Do you really have nothing better to do?]*
He replied instantly.
*[I didn't know what you liked anymore, so I just ordered everything you used to eat. Pick what you want and throw the rest away.]*
Arthur absentmindedly picked up a container of shrimp dumplings, muttering, "They're all still piping hot."
Willa coldly typed back: *[I don't like any of it.]*
But the rejection only seemed to fuel his obsession. Randal fired back another text seconds later.
