Bound To The Broken Alpha
Chapter 290 Who Is Behind The Attacks?
MARK
“If you had stayed out of trouble,” I continued, “maybe none of this would be happening.”
“You’re blaming me for your downfall?”
“I’m saying you add fuel to every fire.”
She stepped back, offended. “I can’t believe you. After everything I’ve done for you-”
“What exactly have you done?” I asked. “Name one thing.”
She couldn’t.
Silence filled the space for the first time since she walked in.

I sat down slowly, suddenly exhausted. My mind was racing with numbers, consequences, and the cold reality that I had no company and no pack standing behind me.
Everything was slipping.
But Clara didn’t care. Not really. She cared about public image, money, and being seen as important.
She finally spoke again. “So what are you going to do now?”
“I don’t know yet,” I answered honestly.
She sighed dramatically. “Well, whatever it is, I still need money. My card—”
“Clara, get out.”
She blinked like she misheard. “What?”
“I said get out. I need to think.”
“You’re kicking me out?”
“I need space.”.
She let out a sharp scoff, turned on her heel, and stormed toward the door. “Unbelievable,” she muttered. “When everything collapses, don’t say I didn’t warn you.”
The door slammed behind her.
I leaned forward, elbows on my knees, staring at the floor.
Everything was slipping through my fingers. My company. My status in the pack. My respect. Everything.
Someone was pulling strings, and I had no idea who.

But deep down, something whispered that this wasn’t random.
Someone planned this carefully.
And whoever it was… they weren’t done.

I drove out of the house because Clara’s voice had already pushed me past my limit. I didn’t want to look at her, talk to her, or hear another complaint about money. My head was pounding.
Everything I built was slipping out of my hands and she still thought the world revolved around her hair appointments and shopping bags.
The streets looked dull as I drove, but maybe it was just my anger making everything blend together. I needed a drink. Something to calm me. Something to remind me that I still had some control over my life.
There was only one place that ever worked for that–the Silver Crest Lounge. High–rank wolves only. Business owners, pack officials, warriors with status. I’d been going there for years. They always greeted me at the door.
I parked my car and walked toward the entrance. Two bouncers stood in front like usual. They were fully shifted enough in scent to remind everyone that they weren’t to be messed with. Wolves like them didn’t smile. They only nodded. They used to nod at me.
Tonight, they didn’t move.
I slowed down when I realized they were watching me like I was a stranger.
“It’s me,” I said, annoyed already. “Move.”
The one on the left shook his head. “Can’t let you in, Mark.”
I waited for him to explain. He didn’t.
“What do you mean you can’t let me in?” I stepped closer. “I’m a paying member. I’ve been coming here for ten years.”
The second bouncer crossed his arms. “Management updated the list this afternoon. You’re no longer cleared.”
I stared at them, wondering if this was some kind of joke. “Cleared? For what? This is a lounge, not a military base.”
“Rules are rules,” the first one replied without any emotion.
I felt my anger rise fast. “You know who I am.”
“We know exactly who you are,” he said. “That’s why we’re telling you to leave.”
Leave.
The word hit harder than I expected.

I laughed, but it didn’t sound right. “You two must have lost your minds. Let me pass.”
