I arrived at Carter Holdings early that morning, the building unusually quiet after the chaos of the past weeks.
The fire, the missing files, the threats–it all felt like a storm we had somehow weathered.
Daniel was already on site, coordinating with security heads and department managers.
His presence carried that calm authority I had come to rely on, and it steadied my nerves even when the unease from last night’s alerts lingered.
“Morning,” he said, his eyes scanning the room before settling on me. “How are you holding up?”
“Better,” I said, keeping my tone even. “I went over the logs from last week. All departments are stabilizing. We’re clear to proceed with full audits, and there’s no new breach reported.”
Daniel nodded. “Good. Keep it that way. Bella should be ready to start tracking any anomalies she notices in the social circles too. We can’t let anything slip.”
I headed straight to my office and called Bella. “I need a full update on all transactions connected to Mark and anyone who might have been following his instructions,” I said. “Even the ones that look harmless at first glance.”
“Already on it,” Bella replied. “I’ve traced every known shell company. There’s nothing actionable. Elias’s moves don’t leave a trail we can legally pursue. You can’t pin any criminal charge on him or Mark at this point.”
I let that sink in for a moment. No actionable evidence. Elias, who had caused so much stress and nearly destabilized our pack, couldn’t be touched legally.
It was a relief, but it also left a bitter taste. All the work, the tension, the danger–it had amounted to warnings, threats, and chaos without a single solid accusation.
“Understood,” I said finally. “But we continue monitoring. Every account, every move. Let’s make sure we’re prepared in case he tries anything else.”
“I’ll have reports ready by the end of the day,” she said. “Nothing gets past me.”
I hung up and leaned back in my chair. The building was quiet now. Staff were arriving, taking their posts, and operations were gradually resuming.
Accounting reported that the last missing transactions were corrected, and IT confirmed that the systems
were secure.
Daniel stepped into my office. “I’ve briefed the Elders,” He said. “They’re accepting your assessment. Elias acted alone, and there’s no legal justification for pack–wide measures. The northern territory can relax without fear of fallout from him or Mark.”
I nodded. “Good. I want to call a brief meeting with the department heads after lunch, just to reassure thein. I don’t want rumors to spread.”
He moved closer, lowering his voice. “You handled all of this well. The pack, the company, everything. I can see how much pressure you’ve been under, but you kepta clear head”

“Thanks,” I said, feeling a small wave of relief. “I couldn’t have done it without you.”

Daniel’s gaze softened, and he reached for my hand. I accepted it, squeezing gently. We didn’t need words to acknowledge the tension we had faced–and survived–together.
By mid–morning, I met with my legal team. We reviewed all the internal audits, finalizing reports to confirm that no suspicious activity could be tied to Elias or Mark. The goal was clear: stabilize Carter Holdings and ensure our investors knew that the company was secure.
After the meeting, I walked through the office floors. Staff were adjusting to the new normal. I noticed subtle looks of relief–employees felt safer knowing Daniel and I were handling the threats. Clara wasn’t anywhere in sight, and the office felt lighter without her constant interruptions.
I returned to my office and drafted a statement for the press and pack community. Bella helped fine–tune it. keeping the message simple: Carter Holdings was secure, operations had resumed, and the northern territory was stable. No mention of Elias, Mark, or any conflict. Just calm, controlled assurance.
“Done,” Bella said, sliding the tablet across my desk. “I’ll send it to the relevant contacts and social channels.”
I reviewed it once more. “Good. Let’s keep the tone professional. The pack and our investors need to see that stability has returned.”
As afternoon approached, Daniel came back into my office. “All done?” he asked.
“Almost,” I said. “I need to check on the security logs from last night. Make sure there’s nothing unusual before we close for the day.”
We went over the feeds together. Cameras from the perimeter and inside the building showed normal activity. No unidentified visitors, no unusual logins. Everything looked as it should.
I exhaled. “It’s finally quiet,” I said. “At least for now.”
Daniel looked at me, serious. “Quiet doesn’t mean safe, but it does mean we’ve stabilized. Tomorrow, we can begin scaling back the emergency measures.
Patrolling will return to normal, and you can get a proper night’s sleep without constant alerts.”
I smiled faintly. “I can live with that.”
By evening, the building was calm. I shut down my computer and stood, stretching. Daniel followed me to the door.
“Where to now?” he asked.
“The Art House for a change,” I said. “It’s time we return I need a space where I can think without constant interruptions and we could take a break from the estate
Daniel’s lips curved in a small smile. “I agree. Let’s go home.”
We left Carter Holdings together. The streets were quiet the security teams maintaining discreet patrols. I felt the weight of the last few weeks lift slightly with every step.
