“That helps,” he said. “Use it.”

“I am.”

He stepped closer. “You understand the risk.”

“If Amy realizes-”

“She won’t,” I cut in. “Not if I’m careful.”

Elias studied me, his gaze heavy. “You’re learning.”

“I don’t have a choice,” I said. “I’m done being a piece on someone else’s board.”

A brief silence stretched between us. Somewhere in the distance, a wolf howled. Elias didn’t react, but I felt his attention shift, checking his surroundings without moving.
