Chapter 483 Dangerous Decision
AMY
My body still felt like it belonged to son…one else.

That was the clearest way I could describe it as I lay back against the pillows, the room quiet except for the steady hum of the medical unit. I wasn’t in pain exactly, but everything took more effort. Breathing. Sitting up. Even thinking for too long made my head feel heavy. The pregnancy was progressing faster than normal, and no one tried to pretend otherwise
anymore.
Daniel came in without ceremony. No guards announcing him. No knock. Just the soft sound of the door opening and closing behind him.
“You’re awake,” he said.
“I’ve been awake,” I replied. “Just resting.”
He crossed the room and sat at the edge of the bed. He didn’t look like an Alpha in that moment. He looked tired. His shoulders were tense, his jaw set in a way I recognized. reached for my legs gently, like he was afraid of hurting me, and started to massage with slow, careful pressure.
The touch helped more than I expected.
“How are you feeling?” he asked.
“Not great,” I said honestly. “But stable. The doctor said the same thing again this morning.”
He nodded. “They always say stable.”
“They don’t like promising more than that.”
His hands moved higher, careful to avoid putting pressure where it would hurt. I leaned back slightly and closed my eyes for a moment.
“You don’t have to stay,” I said. “I know you’re busy.”
“I’m staying,” he replied. “Everything else can wait for a few minutes.”
S
I opened my eyes and looked at him. His focus stayed on what he was doing, but I could tell his mind was somewhere else.
“You found something,” I said.

He didn’t deny it. His hands slowed, then stopped.
“Yes,” he said. “I did.”
I waited. I’d learned that Daniel spoke bette. when he wasn’t rushed.
“It was Clara,” he continued. “Not just indirectly. She coordinated things. Clearances. Movement. She worked with the Southern Alpha. Elias too, at first.”

I felt something settle in my chest. Not shock. Not disbelief. Just a dull disappointment that spread slowly.
“I suspected she wasn’t clean,” I said. “I didn’t want to believe it went that far.”
“She helped plan it,” he said quietly. “And when Elias became a problem, she broke with him.”
I exhaled slowly. “So she’s on her own now.”
“Isolated,” he confirmed. “But still dangerous.”
“Yes,” I said. “That’s what worries me.”
Daniel looked up at me then. “You’re taking this better than I expected.”
“I’m not surprised,” I said. “I’m disappointed.”
There was a difference. Disappointment meant I had once hoped for better. I had trusted Clara with small things. Not secrets, but pieces of myself. I had believed she stood between worlds without belonging fully to either.
I was wrong.
“What do you want to do?” Daniel asked.
I shifted carefully, adjusting the pillow behind my back. My body protested the movement, but I ignored it.
“We don’t confront her,” I said.
Daniel frowned slightly. “Amy-”
“Not yet,” I said firmly. “If we confront her, she disappears. Or she becomes reckless. Either way, we lose control of the situation.”
“She already tried to destroy us,” he said.
“And failed,” I replied. “Partly because she underestimated you. Let’s return the favor.”

He watched me closely. “You have a plan.”
“I have an idea,” I corrected. “One that lets her think she’s still ahead.”
I took a breath before continuing.
“We throw a party,” I said.
Daniel blinked. “A party.”
“Yes,” I said. “A public one. Something official. Something that looks like reconciliation, unity, strength.”
“And Clara?” he asked.
“She gets a VIP invitation,” I said. “Personal. Impossible to ignore.”
Daniel leaned back slightly. “You think she’ll come.”
“I think she won’t be able to resist,” I said. “She needs to know where she stands. She need see if she’s still welcome. If she still has influence.”
“And if she doesn’t show?” he asked.
“Then we learn something,” I replied. “But if she does, we learn more.”
Daniel was quiet for a moment.
“You’re still recovering,” he said. “You shouldn’t be planning traps.”
“I’m not planning a trap,” I said. “I’m hosting a party.”
He gave me a look that said he wasn’t fooled.
“There’s more,” I added.
“I assumed there would be,”
“I want Elias invited,” I said. “And the Southern Alpha.”
Daniel’s jaw tightened. “That’s dangerous.”
“Yes,” I said calmly. “That’s the point.”
“They’ll see it as provocation.”

“They’ll see it as confidence,” I said. “Which is what we need them to believe.”

Daniel stood and started pacing slowly. I watch him, familiar with the way his mind worked when he was weighing risk against control.
“You want all the players in one place,” he said.
“I want to see who avoids the room,” I replied. “Who watches from the edges. Who speaks to who.”
“And you?” he asked. “You’ll be there?”
