Chapter 100 Chance to Make Your Name Overnight

Arthur replied, “I’ll cooperate completely.”

With that, Bethan immediately arranged a full medical examination for him.

After Arthur left the consultation room, Tristen leaned in and reminded her, “Just so you know, the Locke family is one of Europe’s oldest dynasties of wealth.

“Mr. Locke is the youngest heir of the family, and his insomnia has lasted for three years. They’ve hired world-renowned doctors, but none of them has

succeeded.

“If you manage to cure him, you’ll make your name overnight and secure your place in the global field of sleep disorders.”

Faced with the challenge, Bethan straightened her shoulders. “Don’t worry, Tristen. I’ll give it everything I’ve

got.”

mocking smile.

It was hard to believe that a man so accomplished kept his first love and an illegitimate child outside, all while treating his wife with coldness and calculation, without the slightest guilt.

With that in mind, Bethan quickly pulled her gaze back, her face unreadable as she walked out of the ward.

Meanwhile, Hugh had just finished the interview when he received a call from Megan.

At ten that morning, they met at a cafe. Standing outside, Hugh looked around before asking, “Didn’t you say Hudson was crying to see me? Where is he?”

Megan lowered her head uneasily. “Sorry, I must’ve mixed up the dates. Hudson had class today, and I just

sent him over.”

Hearing that, Hugh glanced at her and couldn’t help but

frown.

private room on the second floor. There’s something I want to discuss with you alone.”

After a brief hesitation, Hugh followed her to the room upstairs.

Once the server brought in their coffee and closed the door behind them, Megan spoke, “Hugh, to be honest, my brother and his wife were afraid that Hudson and I would drag them down. They bought a house outside of New York and left, abandoning my mother for me to take care of.”

Hugh’s expression grew colder with every word. “Where are you staying now?”

Megan answered, “I’ve been staying at a hotel these past couple of days with my mom and Hudson. But don’t worry, I already rented a place near his school. We won’t trouble you.”

Hugh hesitated before pulling out a bank card and handing it to her. “Take this. Buy a place in your name. You’ll feel more secure living there.”

Megan refused without a second thought. “Hugh, you:08

She added, “I already signed a contract with an influencer company. I’ll start work in a couple of days. From now

on, I’ll raise Hudson on my own and try not to cause you more trouble.”

At that, Hugh fixed his complicated gaze on her. He didn’t take the card back, but he didn’t say anything either.

Megan continued, “You’ve done so much for Hudson and me already. I can’t just stand by and watch you end up divorcing your wife because of us. If that really happened, I’d feel like a sinner.”

The tension in Hugh’s features finally eased, and an unexplainable sense of relief washed over him. “Megan, this isn’t your fault. Don’t carry that weight on your shoulders.”

Megan’s eyes welled with tears at Hugh’s words, her expression filled with hurt.

She shook her head and spoke firmly, “There’s no way I could be at ease. After all, the mess between you and your wife really did start because of me. I want to help, but I honestly don’t know what I can do.”

Megan nodded obediently. Then, her tone shifted as she said, “Hugh, my brother and his wife don’t care about me and my son anymore. I’ve been abroad in New York for six years, and I don’t have any other friends there.

“I just hope that for the sake of what we once had, if I ever reach a point where I truly can’t get through it alone, you’ll lend a hand to me and my child. That alone would mean the world to me.”

Hugh gave his word. “Megan, I promised you before, and that promise will always stand.”

Satisfied with his answer, Megan didn’t keep him any longer. “Thank you, Hugh. Your wife is lucky to have married you.”
