Chapter 99 Hurting His Eyes

“We’ve discussed it, and once you return home at the end of the year, the hospital is ready to open a separate department for you to lead. We can even offer you shares and dividends.”.

No doubt Tristen’s words gave Bethan a surge of confidence. She didn’t hold back her gratitude. “Thank you so much for your support. I’ll give it everything I have.”

She needed the money. She had to earn enough to buy back her mother’s set of jewelry.

Tristen stood up and said, “Come on, I’ll take you to meet the patient.”

Bethan reminded him, “Maybe we should bring Dr. Sullivan along.”

Tristen calmly replied, “This patient is extremely picky. He has a bad temper and is obsessed with appearances.

“He turned Dr. Sullivan down because he said his hair

He stood out with his height and trendy outfit, an earring in one ear, a pinky ring on his hand, and hair streaked with soft violet over a textured cut. The style gave him a polished, high-fashion edge.

Beside him stood a middle-aged man who looked very much like a butler, hands clasped in front of him. Several men in suits and dark glasses waited just behind.

Tristen stepped up to the butler-like man and said, “Mr. Lawson, the doctor for Mr. Locke is here. Please wait

outside.”

The man, Connor Lawson, turned to the young man and respectfully said, “We’ll wait for you by the door, Mr. Locke.”

Once Connor left with the guards, Arthur Locke finally set his phone down, bracing his hands on the desk as he leaned back, his posture casual and unhurried.

Arthur’s gray-brown gaze swept over Bethan without restraint as he said, “Geez, she looks like something my grandfather would keep behind glass, Mr. Dixon. Are you sure she’s really a doctor?”

Tristen shot her an awkward glance and quickly replied, “Dr. Olsen is our hospital’s leading specialist in sleep disorders. If you’re willing, Mr. Locke, she’ll be your attending physician from here on.”

Arthur crooked his finger at Bethan and said, “Well, come here then, Miss leading specialist.”

Bethan didn’t move. Instead, her expression turned cold as she said, “You’re the patient and I’m the doctor. If you can’t even manage the basic respect that requires, you should find someone else.”

She knew all too well that the human body was complex, and solving insomnia required cooperation as much as medical expertise. The man in front of her was clearly difficult. If boundaries weren’t set at the start, working with him would be impossible.

Arthur hadn’t expected anyone to brush him off. His expression shifted as he hopped down from the desk with a dramatic air.

do your parents do?”

Bethan studied Arthur’s striking mixed-race features up

close and, for the first time, realized a man could look even more beautiful than a woman. She then couldn’t help but compare him with Hugh.

Hugh was handsome in a hard-edged, masculine way, all raw testosterone and lethal charm. Arthur, though, had something else entirely—an almost androgynous beauty, magnetic and dangerous.

Meeting Arthur’s gaze, Bethan asked, “Just tell me, are you going to accept treatment or not?”

Arthur pointed at her, pointed back at himself, spun around in place, and finally looked to Tristen. “A doctor, of all people, actually thinks she can talk to me like that?”
