Hugh had only wanted Bethan to show some initiative, to meet him halfway. But the moment he felt her body against his, all rational thought scattered. His original intentions dissolved completely.

He couldn’t stop himself from shifting positions, pressing her back against the sofa as his kisses grew more demanding, more desperate.

Bethan’s back arched against the cushions, her elegant neck forming a graceful curve as she tilted her head. back. One hand wrapped around his neck while the other clutched desperately at a throw pillow beside her, surrendering completely to Hugh’s intensity.

Her grip was so tight that the pillow’s pattern disappeared beneath her fingers.

Hugh nipped at her lower lip, his voice rough with want. “Say it,” he murmured against her mouth. “Call me honey.”

For hours, Hugh lost himself in her—shifting, moving, never stopping, never satisfied with just one taste of what they had.

As dawn broke, Bethan finally succumbed to exhaustion and drifted into a deep sleep.

Hugh lay contentedly beside her, his fingers trailing over Bethan, curled against him like a sleepy cat. A satisfied smile played at the corners of his mouth-one he probably wasn’t even aware of.

When Bethan woke again, it was nearly noon.

She carefully lifted Hugh’s arm from around her waist. She eased out of bed, wincing at the soreness throughout her body.

Last night, Hugh had been absolutely relentless-like an animal who’d been starved for months.

Bethan chose a deep red knit dress with a cream-colored coat over it.

She was getting dressed in the walk-in closet when Hugh appeared, fresh from his shower.

Without hesitation, he slipped his arms around her from behind, resting his chin on her shoulder. Their eyes met in the mirror’s reflection.

“You were up all night,” he murmured, his voice still husky with sleep and something more intimate. “Why didn’t you sleep in?”

Bethan let Hugh’s warm breath ghost across her neck, sending little shivers down her spine. She grabbed two

smile. “Help me pick-which one goes better with today’s look?”

Hugh set both tubes aside without glancing at them, reaching for a bold red instead.

When Bethan started to protest, he gently turned her to face him, his hands steady on her shoulders.

“This is way too bold for me,” she said, looking up at him. But the words died on her lips as their eyes met.

Hugh couldn’t resist-he leaned down and kissed her, soft and unhurried. Gone was last night’s fierce intensity, replaced by something gentler, more tender.

His breathing quickened as his lips trailed to her ear. “Trust me,” he murmured, his voice low and rough, “this color was made for you.”

Bethan found herself nodding, applying the lipstick under his watchful gaze. “It’s Christmas,” she said, capping the tube. “I should head over to my parents’ place.”

She rose on her tiptoes and pressed a soft kiss to his Aroat, leaving a perfect red mark against his skr. 16:45
