Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 193

Chapter 193 They Would Have One

Lucky Draw

Without a word, Hugh placed Bethan’s phone on a high shelf out of her reach.

Then, he supported her gently and explained, “The stuff you ingested is a newly-launched drug on the market. There’s no antidote available yet, so going to the hospital won’t help.”

Frustration and anger welled up in Bethan, and she started crying.

Despite being so cautious, she’d still fallen into his trap.

As Bethan’s consciousness began to blur, Hugh said to her, “If you need help, just ask…”

But before he could finish his sentence, Bethan sank her teeth into his arm.

Hugh held her arm firmly, not moving an inch. He waited until Bethan went limp under the influence of the drug. Then, he bent down and picked her up.

A few hours later, Bethan slowly came to.

Seeing Hugh standing by the bed, dressed in a sharp suit, Bethan was too tired to even scold him.

Hugh bent down to tuck the quilt around Bethan. “Lunch is ready in the kitchen. I’m going to the office. You rest up.”

He spoke in a gentle tone, looking every bit the sophisticated gentleman, as if the man who’d been so intense with her in bed just now wasn’t him at all.

Bethan was completely worn out and simply shut her

eyes.

Hugh stared at her for a long while before turning and leaving the bedroom.

The moment Hugh was out of sight, Bethan opened her

eyes.

She slumped over the bedside and tipped the trash can

over.

After counting the condoms and their wrappers that 17:44

spilled out, the tension on her face eased a bit.

Since Hugh already had a son with Megan, she assumed he wouldn’t want her to get pregnant.

She was just worried that Hugh might use a child to keep

her tied down.

Given Hugh’s sly nature, she couldn’t afford to be

careless.

“If you’re really that worried, just take the pill,” Hugh said as he walked back in with a glass of water.

He opened a packet of contraceptive pills right in front of Bethan and held it out to her.

Bethan checked the packaging and popped it into her

mouth.

It seemed she was right; Hugh had no plans to have a

child with her.

Seeing Bethan swallow the pill without a second thought and looking relieved, Hugh clenched his fists at his sides. 3/7

He shot a glance at Bethan and left the bedroom with a cold look on his face.

Bethan slept until around two or three in the afternoon.

She dragged herself out of bed, wincing at the soreness all over her body. Looking at the marks on her body in the mirror, she soaked in the bathtub for ages.

She’d been drugged and her mind had been in a haze, but she could feel Hugh’s pent-up anger as he took her roughly.

He was both gentle and forceful, changing positions, making her cry, beg for mercy, and make promises.

After this, there was no way she could pull the same stunt again.

Bethan couldn’t figure out why Megan was so scared of Hugh.

Hugh loved and spoiled Megan, and she’d even given birth to his son. It would’ve been a piece of cake for Megan to take her place, so why was she so terrified of High?

It seemed Megan was no longer someone she could rely on, and Bethan had to come up with other plans.

Meanwhile, in the president’s office of the Cavill Group, Hugh poured a cup of coffee for Fiona himself. “Mom, what brings you here?”

Fiona sat down gracefully on the sofa and put her handbag aside. “You and Bethy haven’t been back to the Cavill Manor much lately. I was just in the area, so I thought I’d stop by and see how you two are doing.”

Hugh lowered his eyes. “We’re okay.”

Fiona put down her coffee, and her expression turned serious. “Going to a gathering of friends with Bethy and that woman. Is this what you call being okay?”

Hugh remained calm. “Mom, don’t listen to Gwen’s

nonsense.”
