Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 200

Chapter 200 He Put A Curse on Me

Mason stopped in his tracks and said, “This time we didn’t just barge in. Bethan asked us to come.”

Arthur popped his head in and added cheekily, “Don’t give us that look. Bethy told me I could help myself.”

Hugh corrected him, “You’ll call her Mrs. Cavill or Dr. Olsen.”

Arthur shook his head defiantly and taunted. “Nope. Bethy said she likes me calling her that.”

Hugh had been waiting nights for Bethan to finally join him for dinner, and now it was wrecked. The entire time at the table, he sulked silently, refusing both food and drink.

At last, Hugh endured until Arthur and Mason finally left. He and Bethan then freshened up, ready to turn in.

Just then, Arthur rang her, saying he’d had a nightmare, qouldn’t sleep, and asked her to bring up his incense.17:47

Without missing a beat, Bethan rolled out of bed and dug out the special incense she had prepared for Arthur.

But Hugh stood blocking the closet doorway, refusing to let her change.

She tried to reason with him, exasperated. “Quit staring like that. Patients are like the elderly or children. They’re vulnerable, and they need comfort.

With a dark expression, Hugh snatched the incense from her hand, grinding his teeth. “Go lie down. I’ll go handle this.”

When Arthur opened the door and saw Hugh, he nearly jumped out of his skin. “What the hell are you doing here?”

Hugh walked in with a stormy face, but Arthur blocked his way. “What are you doing at my place in the middle of the night?”

“I came to fix what’s wrong with you,” Hugh replied with no warmth at all.

Arthur quickly backed away from Hugh. “Don’t Spook 7:47

me, man. A shock like that’s hard to shake off, and I’ll pin it on you.”

Hugh didn’t say another word. He went straight into the bedroom, placed the incense he brought in a

circle around the bed, and lit two white candles at the

headboard.

Then, he went to the living room and shut off the breaker. The whole place plunged into darkness, leaving only the two white candles flickering in Arthur’s bedroom.

Arthur stomped in outrage, pointing at the incense circle and the candles. “Why not go all out and bring a coffin too, huh?”

Hugh patted the edge of the bed and said, “Lie down.”

Arthur clutched the pillow Bethan had given him and backed to the doorway, staring at Hugh in fear.

The bell rang at that moment, and Arthur quickly switched on his phone light and hurried to the door.

Looking at the darkened house, Bethan asked, “Did the Bower go out?”

Arthur held onto her arm as they felt their way inside. “Your damn husband shut off the breaker.”

When Bethan saw Hugh come out, she couldn’t hold back. “What are you doing, shutting off the power? Turn it back on now.”

Hugh brushed Arthur’s hand off her arm, turned back, and flipped the breaker. The lights came on, and only then did she step inside.

Hugh blocked Bethan’s way and told her, “I’ve already lit the incense for him. You’ve got work tomorrow, so head back and rest early.”

Pointing at his bedroom in alarm, Arthur cried out, “Bethy, your husband just tried to put a curse on me, like he’s sending me off. Go see for yourself!”

Bethan gave Hugh a quick look and stepped into the bedroom. Immediately, the dense smell of incense smothered her, and she couldn’t stop herself from coughing.
