Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 202

Chapter 202 Test Hugh’s Feelings for His Wife

That was when Megan understood why Fiona hadn’t asked what she wanted to drink—she had been waiting for this

moment.

“What are you even talking about, Mrs. Fiona Cavill?” Megan asked bluntly, her expression sour and her tone sharp.

It irked Megan that Fiona carried herself with elegance and grace while subtly belittling her at every turn.

She couldn’t figure Fiona out, nor could she grasp her hidden meaning-just like she couldn’t make sense of the French menu in front of her.

When Megan realized this was the second time Fiona had humiliated her in this way, she clenched her hands tightly at her sides.

Once I marry Hugh, I’ll make this old woman regret ever looking down on me!

Fiona didn’t bother hiding her disdain as she said, “All I want is for my son to leave Bethan. Whether you can make a place for yourself beside him depends on you.”

Megan let out a bitter laugh and shot to her feet. “Mrs. Fiona Cavill, you were the one who called me here, not the other way around.”

Fiona simply nodded, her face steady. “I know how to end Hugh and Bethan’s marriage quickly. That’s me doing my part. It’s up to you whether you want to hear it.”

Megan’s eyes darted restlessly. To her, Fiona looked like a crafty old fox who had been around far too long.

“If I do as you say, what’s in it for me?” Megan asked cautiously.

Fiona replied, “Harvey has no regard for you, nor for the fallen Olsen heiress. But once Hugh and Bethan are divorced, you won’t be the mistress anymore.

“That’s when you’ll get your shot. If you can persuade Hugh to accept you and your son into the Cavill family, you’ll have won it all.”

Megan hesitated for a long moment before sinking back into her seat. She felt it was better to deal with Fiona than to make any bargains with Bethan.

Megan didn’t bother with what type of woman the Cavills wanted Hugh to marry. All that mattered was that once he

opportunity she couldn’t waste.

After much hesitation, she finally asked, “What exactly do you want me to do?”

With a faintly mocking smile, Fiona set her spoon aside and said calmly, “Bethan is a respected doctor in sleep disorders now, and you’ve battled depression for more than three years.”

She glanced at Megan and asked, “It shouldn’t be hard for a patient with recurring depression to develop severe insomnia, right?”

Megan looked half confused. “You mean you want me to see her as a patient?”

Fiona agreed with a nod. “The first thing you must do is quit your job and wreck your routine. You need to look worn out, make Hugh believe that your depression has returned. You have to push away everyone close to you until you’re completely isolated. Put yourself in a worse state than when you first came back to the country.”

The more Megan listened, the more her expression turned wary by the second.

Fiona said, “This is nothing less than a high-stakes bet. If you win, you’ll get the chance to be the Cavill family’s future lady of the house.” After a brief pause, she continued, “But if you lose,

you’ll lose it all.”

Megan inhaled sharply, her breathing tense. “Mrs. Fiona Cavill, are you trying to use me to test Hugh’s feelings for his wife?”

Fiona didn’t deny it. “If Hugh is willing to divorce his wife for you, trading it for the chance to treat you, then you win. If not, you lose. Think it over and give me your answer later.”

Megan picked up her bag and sat frozen for a long time, torn with hesitation.

She realized Bethan had strong connections with Fiona, Gwen, and Hugh’s circle of friends. Divorce or not, Megan couldn’t risk burning bridges with her.

Megan knew Fiona’s plan wasn’t impossible, but it was risky. She had to think carefully and couldn’t agree just yet.

Still, it wouldn’t hurt to probe this old fox a bit.

With that thought in mind, Megan said, “Mrs. Cavill, no matter what, Hudson is still a Cavill by blood. A while back, there was trouble between my mom, my brother, and his wife, and Hudson was frightened. Would you mind asking Hugh to spend more time with him?”
