Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 232

Chapter 232 Bring the Child and Go to Him

Hugh’s eyes dropped to the pad in her hand, stained red.

His gaze locked on it, sharp and searching. “Sorry,” he said at last, his voice low. “I thought the room was empty.”

The darkness in his eyes deepened before he stepped back out, quietly shutting the door behind him.

Bethan wasted no time locking it again, exhaling in relief.

Thank God she had prepared carefully. Without these layers of deception, she would never survive Hugh’s constant, unpredictable tests.

All she had to do was keep this up until the end of the month- until she could go to Los Angeles and end the pregnancy.

When she finally emerged from the bathroom, Hugh was nowhere to be seen.

She didn’t care. She went straight to bed and fell asleep.

The next morning, in the hospital corridor, Bethan crossed paths with Megan.

It was April-neither hot nor cold-but Megan was wrapped up head to toe.

The moment her eyes landed on Bethan in her white coat, standing tall and serene, her gaze filled with pure envy.

Bethan met her eyes once, then turned to leave.

Megan hurried forward, blocking her way. “Can I steal a few minutes of your time?”

Bethan nodded and led her into an empty consultation room.

Megan tugged off her mask, revealing a face drawn and haggard.

Bethan’s eyes swept over her from head to toe. Aside from the designer brands clinging to her body, there was nothing worth noticing.

From her family background to her face, from her

temperament to her ability, there was nothing about her that stood out.

And yet this woman had managed to capture the Cavill heir’s heart, to make him burn for her.

Megan caught the flicker of disdain in Bethan’s eyes.

Her hand tightened around the bag of medicine she was carrying.

She hated that look-Bethan’s superior, condescending arrogance. It was the same look Fiona gave her.

Megan lifted her chin. “Bethan, you don’t have to look at me that way. No matter how pathetic I seem, I’m still the mother of Hugh’s son.”

Bethan’s lips curved faintly.

She nodded with deliberate calm. “Megan, powerful families are ruthless. Children are often kept while mothers are discarded. If you don’t try harder, even if I divorce Hugh, you’ll never step across the Cavill threshold.”

Megan had been basking in her own self-importance, but Bethan’s words shredded her composure in an instant.

Her surgically sculpted face twisted with rage.

Just then, her phone rang.

The moment she saw the caller ID, her fury dissolved.

She shoved the phone toward Bethan, her voice sharp with

triumph. “See? I don’t even have to lift a finger. The Cavills already can’t wait to bring me in.”

Bethan’s gaze didn’t waver. She said sincerely, “Good luck, then.”

And with that, she walked away, leaving Megan trembling with hatred. Megan’s eyes darkened.

Bitch. Just you wait.

She just needed to wait a little longer. Then Hugh would come back to her of his own accord, and things between them would be just like they were when she first returned home.

Following the address Fiona had sent, Megan arrived at a quiet café.

She glanced down at the untouched cup in front of her, then up

at Fiona.

“I wasn’t sure what you liked,” Fiona said smoothly. “But since you and Hugh are so close, I thought your tastes must be similar. I went ahead and ordered you coffee.”

Megan hated coffee’s bitterness.

“Thank you,” Megan said carefully. “Hugh and I do both drink coffee.”

She lifted her coffee with forced elegance and took a delicate

sip.

The bitterness spread across her tongue, and she forced herself to swallow.

That old woman—of course she didn’t add sugar. I knew better than to think kindness came without strings.
