Chapter 249 You’re Not Worth My Forgiveness
Bethan was lying on her back on the big bed. When she saw Hugh come in, she didn’t react at all.
Hugh stood by the bed, staring at her in a daze. He wanted to go to her, to hold her.
But his feet felt like they were filled with lead. He couldn’t make himself move.
Bethan asked him expressionlessly, “Are you getting this divorce or not?”
Hugh’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down. He forced his mouth into something that might have been a smile.
His eyes reddened as he said, “I’m not getting divorced.”
Bethan picked up her phone. She threatened him. “If you won’t divorce me, then don’t blame me when I expose the truth about your fake son!”
Hugh took two quick steps and sat on the edge of the bed. He grabbed Bethan’s wrist. “Bethan, give me one more chance!”
Bethan stared straight into Hugh’s eyes and pressed him. 1/6

“Either we get divorced, or I tell your grandfather the truth about Hudson’s parentage. Which one do you want?”
They stared at each other from inches away.
Hugh looked into Bethan’s eyes and said, “Bethan, I know you feel wronged. As long as you don’t divorce me, I won’t stop you from doing whatever you want!”
The moment Hugh finished speaking, Bethan dialed Fiona’s number.
Right in front of Hugh, Bethan called Fiona and told her the truth-that Hudson wasn’t Hugh’s biological child. Then she dropped the second bomb that she’d aborted Hugh’s real baby.
When she hung up, they both fell into complete silence.
The massive bedroom felt suffocating, the tension so thick you could barely breathe.
Hugh’s eyes were bloodshot as he fought to keep it together. He pulled the covers up to Bethan’s shoulders, his movements gentle despite everything.
Bethan looked at him with obvious distance and coldness in her eyes. “Hugh, I—”
Hugh cut her off. “If you’re about to bring up separation, don’t 2/6

Bethan stared at him for a long moment before asking, “You’ve done all this for Megan and Hudson, but you’re still stubborn about refusing a divorce. Why torture yourself like this?”
Hugh grabbed her hand, his voice firm. “What happened before-that’s on me. I’ll publicly clarify my relationship with Megan and Hudson. Just trust me one more time.”
He’d overestimated how much Bethan loved him. He’d been so sure she was deeply in love with him that she couldn’t live without him.
That confidence had made him think he could control his marriage and handle any crisis.
That was why he’d been so reckless, so quick to agree when Megan asked him to claim Hudson as his own.
He’d been wrong. He’d broken Bethan’s heart and killed their real child with his own hands.
Bethan pulled her hand back, her face completely blank.
“Hugh, you’re not worth my forgiveness. And you’re definitely not worth my trust.”

She’d overestimated how much she actually meant to him.

Sure, the Olsen family had gone bankrupt, so she no longer had some fancy pedigree.
But she wasn’t exactly chopped liver either. She was gorgeous, had a great body, a top-notch education, and a respectable career. She kept good company, was friendly and outgoing, could play violin, race cars, speak multiple languages, play. chess, and do drawing.
She’d always figured she was pretty decent—maybe not perfect, but definitely not settling.
All this time, she’d assumed Hudson was Hugh and Megan’s love child. She thought Hugh protected Megan and Hudson because they’d created this kid together.
But she never could have imagined this truth-the child Hugh was willing to betray his marriage and destroy her for wasn’t even his. Hudson was Megan’s son with her ex-husband.
Her own husband had torn her apart and left her completely defeated—all for another woman’s kid from a previous relationship.
How was she supposed to deal with that?
Bethan turned away from Hugh and closed her eyes, the pain 4/6

Hugh sat quietly on the edge of the bed. He didn’t speak, didn’t move, didn’t leave.
He stayed there until Bethan fell into a deep sleep. Only then
did he carefully shift his body and inch closer to her side.
Hugh gently kissed her hair, his eyes red-rimmed and glistening with unshed tears.
He wrapped his arms around her through the blanket, not daring to hold her too tightly.
He curled up next to Bethan, his voice hoarse and muffled as he whispered, “Bethan, I’m sorry.”
