Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 28

Chapter 28 Apologize to Megan

Mason rubbed his forehead. “Here we go…”

Gwen scoffed, “You wrinkly old hag, you think you can talk to me like that?”

Without another word, Gwen raised her hand and delivered two sharp slaps. The middle-aged housekeeper stumbled backward, clutching her face and supporting Megan, who was already retreating to a corner.

Gwen looked around the lavish living room, then fixed her gaze on Megan. “If you’re spending Hugh’s money, then half of everything in this place belongs to Bethan. I’m just helping her take back what’s hers.”

Megan held her bruised cheek and stepped back until she hit the wall. “If you want to wreck the place, Ms. Cavill, go ahead.”

Gwen did just that. She started smashing everything in sight. Nothing was spared.

Mason noticed Megan sneaking off to record a video with her phone and stepped in. “Ms. Ridley, stabbing people in the back? Not classy.”

Startled, Megan quickly turned off the phone. “I was just scared. I didn’t mean anything by it.”

Gwen shoved her aside and hurled a metal hourglass at the chandelier in the living room.

With a loud crash, crystal shards scattered across the floor.

Mason threw himself forward, shielding Gwen from the debris. Megan screamed and fell to the ground, injured.

The housekeeper shrieked and fumbled for her phone to call the police.

Realizing things had gotten out of hand, Mason quickly messaged Hugh.

Then, after a moment’s hesitation, he also sent a message to Bethan.

Late that night, Bethan was in no state to function.

Her childhood sweetheart-the man she had loved for decades —had looked her in the eye as she held a knife to her throat and told her calmly that even if she died, it wouldn’t affect him in the slightest.

She lay on the bed in a daze, barely breathing.

But the thought of her parents and her younger brother slowly pulled her back. the dark thoughts clawing at her and finally get some sleep.

When the Olsen family was thriving, her entire world revolved around Hugh.
