Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 333

Chapter 333 Why

Lucky Draw

Calvin wasn’t from one of the eight prominent families and didn’t mingle with them frequently. However, none of the eight families dared to provoke him.

The back of Hugh’s hands showed bulging veins as he fixed his gaze on Bethan.

She’d always been cold to him, whether in public or private, yet her tone with Calvin was so gentle.

With furrowed brows, Mason watched Hugh with concern.

Bradley wiped the sweat off his forehead, a look of regret flashing across his face.

He’d assumed Bethan was just a cast-off woman. Even if she was close to Tristen, he thought it was only work-related. That was why he’d let Maria act up.

Never had he imagined Tristen and Mason would defend her so fiercely, or that Hugh would protect her this way,

Now even Calvin-who was rarely seen in social circles-was coming to pick her up personally.

He’d severely underestimated this woman.

Glancing at Maria, Bethan turned back to the phone. “Mr. Byron, just tell me the price, please.”

“I know!” Henry’s bright, childish voice came through the line. “A3 first, then… 1, 2, 3, 4… seven zeros!”

Hearing Calvin’s low voice scolding their son gently in the background, Bethan smiled, “Thank you, sweet Henry. Go to bed as your dad says.”

Hanging up, she looked around at the crowd’s shocked faces- Bradley and Maria couldn’t believe even Calvin’s son got along so well with her.

Taking out her phone calmly, she addressed Maria. “Mrs. Field, 30 million dollars plus medical bills. Cash or transfer?”

Maria was still reeling from the shock, her voice instinctive with denial. “That dress of yours is worth at most a few tens of thousands! How can we trust a little kid’s words?”

Elsie, Nola, and Jasper chipped in, echoing her, “Exactly! A kid can’t even count properly-we can’t take his word for it!”

Mason picked his ear casually, his tone mocking. “That dress was custom-made for Dr. Olsen by my brother’s wife, personally commissioned by Mr. Byron. The diamond waist chain alone is worth over 10 million dollars. You can be ignorant, Mrs. Field, but don’t question her craftsmanship.”

Gasps of disbelief rippled through the crowd. Maria’s legs went weak, and she almost collapsed.

Before she could recover, Bradley stepped forward, scanning

Bethan’s phone immediately to transfer 30 million dollars, plus the 200 thousand dollars in cash he’d fetched earlier.

Bethan stuffed the cash into her bag without hesitation. “You all chat. I’ll be leaving now.” She gave Tristen a look, and the two

turned to head downstairs.

Watching Hugh’s condition worsen-his face pale, steps unsteady-Mason urged him quietly. “You’re in no state to stay here. It’s too dangerous. Let me take you to the hospital for a checkup.”

“Leave me alone,” Hugh snapped, pushing him away.

Why?

Why would Calvin give Bethan a 30-million-dollar dress?

Bethan had always been strict about boundaries, never accepting expensive gifts from others.

She’d once said she only liked the gifts he gave her.

Why had she taken Calvin’s gift?

Mason hurried downstairs, afraid Hugh would collapse.

The crowd followed, leaving the embarrassed Field couple, Nola, and Jasper behind.

Maria’s face had turned ashen.

She’d planned to humiliate Bethan, to get revenge for her niece, but instead, she’d been outsmarted and lost over 30 million dollars.

Sensing her husband’s anger, Maria clutched her stomach, bending over. “Honey, my stomach suddenly hurts.”

Bradley had no time for anger or regret, rushing to help her back to their room.

More than ten minutes later, the car carrying Bethan and Tristen was forced to stop on the side of the road-Hugh had cut them off.

Tristen glanced at Bethan, who shook her head. “Tristen, I have nothing to say to him.”

At her words, Tristen nodded.

As Hugh got out of his car, Tristen stepped out too. Hugh reached for the car door, but Tristen blocked him.

As a doctor, Tristen could tell Hugh was unwell. “Mr. Cavill, the stomach is an emotional organ. You were rushed to the hospital this morning for a gastric bleed. For your own health, you need to calm down.”

Hugh’s chest heaved with anger, bis voice unsteady as he fought to control himself.

“Tristen, this is between my wife and me. I’d appreciate it if you stayed out of it.”
