Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 334

Chapter 334 Be a Good Girl

Lucky Draw

Noticing Hugh’s awful complexion, Mason tried to persuade him, “Hugh, don’t be so stubborn, Let me take you home first. Once you’re feeling better, you can talk to Bethan properly.”

Hugh, with bloodshot eyes, pushed Mason away and said with a choked-up voice, “I can’t wait. I need to hear what she has to say right now!”

Bethan hesitated for a moment, then addressed Tristen and Mason, “Tristen, Mason, you guys go back first. I actually have something to ask Mr. Cavill.”

Actually, Tristen knew Bethan didn’t want to be a bother to him.

Since she’d made the request, he didn’t insist anymore.

After all, Hugh had come with the intention of mending fences, so Bethan knew he wouldn’t cause her harm.

After Tristen and Mason had hopped into their cars and driven off, only Hugh and Bethan were left lingering there.

She stood there, giving him a cold look, and then spoke up, “Mr. Cavill, if you’ve got something on your mind, just come out with it.”

Stung by her coldness, Hugh walked up to Bethan.

He firmly clasped her shoulders with his hands.

Then, looking deep into her eyes, he demanded in a hushed tone, “Why’d Calvin give you such a pricey evening dress?”

Before Bethan could even open her mouth to respond, Hugh started shaking her shoulders, his emotions hitting a breaking point. “Why’d you take his gift? Why are you wearing the dress he bought you?”

On the sidewalk beside the road, Bethan remained as still as a statue, her gaze as cold as ice, as if Hugh were a complete

stranger.

She patiently waited for him to finish his tantrum, and then calmly reminded him, “Hugh, I’m single now. I can take gifts from whoever I like and wear whatever someone buys me. It’s none of your business!”

Her voice was soft, yet her determination rang clear.

Hugh just couldn’t wrap his head around it. He shook his head like a madman. “No way, that isn’t what you really feel!

“Even if we’re divorced, you’re still my wife in my heart. I won’t let you take gifts from other guys!”

Bethan let out a sarcastic laugh. “Hugh, I’m not your sidekick or your property. I don’t care what you think. You’re yesterday’s news to me.”

With Bethan standing her ground, Hugh’s emotions went

haywire.

He grabbed her wrist and yanked her closer, looking like a caged animal, all jittery and on edge.

He tried to reason with her, “Calvin’s a crafty guy. He’s been married and has a kid. You’ve only known him a short while, and he splashes out 30 million dollars on a dress for you. Can’t you see what he’s up to?”

Bethan shot back, “What his game is, that’s my problem, not yours!”

In a fit of desperation, Hugh pulled her into a tight embrace. “Bethy, you’re mine. After all these years, I won’t let you talk like

this!”

Bethan wriggled in his arms, but he just squeezed her tighter.

Frustrated, she sank her teeth into his chest.

Hugh let out a grunt of pain and instinctively held her even closer, burying his head in her shoulder, breathing in her familiar scent.

He lowered his voice, almost like a plea. “Bethy, be a good girl. Give the money for the dress back to Calvin. I’ll buy you anything you want from now on.”

As Bethan gradually calmed down in his arms, a strange unease welled up in Hugh.

He tightened his embrace and coaxed her in a hoarse, gentle

voice, “Come on, Bethy. Be a good girl. I’ll hand over all my property to you. You can buy whatever your heart desires. Just stop taking gifts from Calvin, okay?”

He waited for what seemed an eternity, but there was no response from Bethan.

Growing worried, Hugh loosened his grip a bit and pleaded, “Bethy, say something!”

Bethan placed her hands on Hugh’s chest to create some space. “Let me go first,” she said firmly.

The atmosphere turned tense. Reluctantly, Hugh let her go.

Bethan took a couple of steps back and, with a cold look on her face, confronted him.

“Hugh, if you think Calvin has an ulterior motive for giving me a dress, what about all the stuff you’ve given Megan? What were you thinking when you did all that?”

Their eyes locked.

Hugh felt his heart sinking deeper.

After a long silence, he finally said, “Believe me or not, I never thought of leaving you for Megan I never wanted to let you go.”

Bethan couldn’t help but laugh. “Even if you didn’t think about divorce, it doesn’t mean you were faithful. Your thoughts were just as sleazy!
