Breaking Point of Divorce (Hugh and Bethan) novel Chapter 335

Chapter 335 None of My Business?

He slowly raised his head, fingers digging so hard into his hair that his knuckles turned white, as if trying to fend off the encroaching despair.

Staring blankly at Bethan, he inched closer cautiously.

“I’m really sorry for what I did back then, Bethy. It’s been so long. Can you just forget about it?”

With a cold laugh, Bethan retorted, “I’m the one who got hurt. Why should I forget?”

She locked eyes with Hugh icily.

“You took Megan’s son as your own, sent him to a fancy private school, picked him up from school in your car, and even stooped to pick out toys for him.

“Hugh, you’re a married man, yet you could go to such lengths for another woman. Mr. Byron and I are both single. We’ve done nothing wrong, nothing immoral, illegal, or betraying anyone. So why can’t we be together?”

Once upon a time, she’d turned down gifts from countless guys for Hugh. But in the end, it all came to nothing.

From now on, she could accept gifts from anyone, except Hugh.

Hugh stood before Bethan, shoulders slumped, lowering his

pride. “Bethy, please trust me one more time, okay?”

Lucky Draw

Bethan waved him off indifferently. “Hugh, I just want to live my own life, a life without you.”

Her words pierced Hugh’s heart like needles.

As he stood before her with bloodshot eyes, his body went rigid.

“I’m here to remind you that whether it’s Mrs. Potter, your Ms. Potter, or Mrs. Field, the root cause of the trouble they’ve given me is you. I’m innocent. If you still feel the slightest bit of guilt, keep them away from me and stay out of my sight!” Bethan said firmly.

“I’ll handle them. It all started because of me,” Hugh promised.

Then, with a change of tone, he added, “Let me take you to return that dress Calvin gave you. I’ll buy you a new one.”

Bethan frowned at his stubbornness. “Hugh, can’t you

understand? We’re divorced. What I do with Calvin is none of your business!”

“Really? None of my business?” Iugh suddenly let out a bitter laugh with his blood-red eyes.

Startled by his reaction, Bethan asked, “What are you laughing at, Hugh?”

Before she could finish, Hugh scooped her up and strode towards the luxury car nearby.

Lucky Draw

A few minutes later, in the cramped front seat of the car, Hugh held Bethan’s hands and examined the injuries on her arms.

His eyes were filled with undisguised pain as he said, “You got yourself hurt like this just to avoid trouble for Tristen. Why didn’t you come to me when you were in trouble?

“Is it true that I don’t deserve your trust at all in your eyes?” Hugh questioned, his voice laced with a tinge of desperation.

Bethan yanked her hands back forcefully.

Reaching for the door-unlock button on the center console, she was easily stopped by Hugh.

Sweat broke out on Bethan’s forehead as she exclaimed anxiously, “Hugh, what on earth are you up to?”

Hugh’s eyes were fixed intently on Bethan’s face. “First, I’ll take you to the hospital to clean the wound on your arm. Then, we’ll have the dress dry-cleaned, and I’ll go with you to return it to Calvin,” he stated.

Before Bethan could say a word, Hugh added, “Or, you can keep the dress, and I’ll accompany you to give Calvin 30 million dollars.”

Sitting in the passenger seat, Bethan snapped at Hugh irritably, “Hugh, you have no right to interfere in my private affairs. If you keep this up, I’ll call the police!”

With that, she rummaged through her bag for her phone.

Lucky Draw

In an instant, Hugh stretched out his arm and snatched it away.

Driven to the limit, Bethan scrambled over to the driver’s seat, trying to grab the phone back from Hugh.

During the tussle, Hugh pinned her down on his lap.

Face-to-face, with Bethan straddling Hugh’s lap, the position was both intimate and embarrassing.

Bethan struggled to get up, but Hugh held her firmly in place.

As he gazed down at Bethan, Hugh’s Adam’s apple bobbed up and down involuntarily.

“Bethy, I don’t want to argue with you. Just be a good girl. Let me take you to the hospital first, and then we’ll go talk to Calvin,” he coaxed.

Bethan waved her injured arm in front of Hugh’s face. “Hugh, this is my own arm. It has nothing to do with you. And my business with Calvin doesn’t concern you either,” she retorted impatiently.

A flicker of uneasiness passed through Hugh’s eyes. “This morning, I had a stomachache and fainted in the supermarket, and you could just turn a blind eye. But I can’t stand by when you’re hurt,” he said softly.

All of a sudden, Bethan burst into laughter. 4/5
